PREDICT CURVES FOR JANUARY 2014 SAT

Ah, wishful thinking I guess. Don’t know why that question gave me so much trouble. &kmcprfam, i hope you’re right!

hey for the grammar question where the sentence started with “that,” was it no error, or was the error that the sentence started with “that.” incredibly awkward sounding sentence either way.

@kmcprfam yeah i agree this test was overall a bit trickier than usual so we’re (probably) going to get a decent curve for each section… although i remember that the critical reading curve from last year’s January exam was abysmal (1 wrong = 770 for CR) so I’m not sure what to expect anymore.

Also, whoever thought of the questions for the mountain passage can go jump in a well… three questions wrong on just that stupid passage

Prediction after taking roughly 10 SATs.
-1 Math: 780 (really hoping for 800 -1, but very unlikely. Expect a nice curve.)
-2 Cr: 800 (Passages imo were easier than passages in some other practices tests I’ve taken, and they were definitely more engaging than some in the past. The mountain passage was harder than the norm, but imo vocab was the hardest – I am not very “vocab-inclined”)
-2 w/12 Essay: 800: B/c of the diction question. I can’t remember question numbers, but according to what I saw, I don’t think I did too hot on Writing even though I got consistent 800s before… Expect a nice curve.
-1 w/10 Essay: 800

@harvardfanatic10 what do you think my score will be if i got two wrong and 1 omit in math, and 3 wrong in critical reading?

@12345sat789sat
Math: 730-740.
CR: 780-790

i really hope you are right. i just really want to hit 2300. thanks so much @harvardfanatic10. also, even if you do not feel confident about how you did on writing, i think the writing curve will be very generous, so you may still have gotten an 800.

What about 8-9 wrong on CR?
(no omits)

And how generous would the writing section be? I thought it was easy.

there were two strange diction questions, i believe. i think 1 wrong with a 10 for an essay will still be an 800. but i could easily be wrong.

Can someone please explain the “trips” problem that everyone keeps referring to? I don’t remember anything about trips.

-4 and 1 omit on cr, -1 on math, and 800 on writing (hopefully, 790 at least)). Even the slightest chance at 2300?

@Peezus, I think it will be CR: 730, Math: 770, Writing: 790/800. So, If you got an 800 on writing, you could technically get a 2300.

Wow that would be the best news, but I can’t totally bank on an 800 in writing. Do you think that there is any chance that CR will be 740 ( for-5) and math will be 780( for -1)? According to the released curves (http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/SAT-Released-Test-Curves.pd</a>) those are the averages. I know that factors in really hard tests from a few years ago, but I feel like on math/cr (trickier than december and cb practice tests I’ve taken) the curve will be slightly better than normal? Or am I just wishfully thinking

Well keep in mind Peezus, all though it does factor in harder tests, it also factors in easier ones, leading to a more balanced average.

Ok so would -3 Reading, -1 Math, -1 (maybe -2) for writing with 9/10 essay get me a 2300 at least? Im kinda worried LOL!

Prooobably, I’d say so.

What do you guys think -3 or -4 in reading will be?

~750

how harsh will the CR curve be for 1-3 wrong?

-1 800 -2 800 -3 770
