Prep Schools in 1 word

If you could describe each prep school with 1 word what would it be?

WickedExpensive

Dang. ChoatieMom took my word. So I’ll use… RAMEN.

It’s all he wants in care packages and all I can afford.

Unnecessary.

Great words but I meant for each individual prep schools.

For example,
SPS - Rural

Sorry for confusion! :slight_smile: keep the comments coming

HIll = Hilly. guess they named it that for a reason…

Loomis = Lowkey

St. Andrew’s (DE) = Ethos

Groton = fabulous

But actually.

Groton = rewarding

Thacher = Community

Hotchkiss = remote
Exeter = intense
Deerfield = preppy
Lawrenceville = expensive
Andover = elite
Choate = NYC (?)

Mercersburg = welcoming

Cate = warmth

NO WAY does Choate=NYC. Not even close. Not sure what I would put, but NOT NYC. Wallingford is a typical NE town with a small downtown, old colonial style buildings, and lots of farmland within two miles of campus. The campus has gorgeous red brick buildings with tall white columns mixed with impressive modern buildings by well-known architects. Campus is expansive, over 400 acres. There are very few trips into NYC for the students, who need special permission to leave Wallingford. So, NO, not NYC.
My vote is: challenging.
My husband says: organized, planned, or comprehensive.

Berkshire= Inspiring

Westover= Community

Re Choste, I was talking about a distinctive NYC crowd shaping the culture on some ways. Is there not? Anyway, I don’t think this thread is that serious anyway. It should be the first word jumping to you, not a compliment after serious soul searching! :slight_smile:

@mexusa: Choate has a rep for being NYC-centric. I think @panpacific was referring to that rep (deserved or not) and not the campus/location. I guess I would say:

Choate=sophisticated (may be tangentially related to NYC-ness)

Thacher = integrity

Okay, a good amount of students are from, as they say, “Manhattan.” Yeah, we could go with = sophisticated.
