Was this MMC? That happened to my dd as well. Her re-audition is not for another week!
Good guess! Yes it was.
Good luck to your daughter!
Lol! It just sounded a lot like the email my dd received from them after Cleveland. She wasn’t sure what to make of it so it is nice to hear your story! Thanks,
I’ve been trolling y’all for months but thought I’d chime in! I have a million comments so just ignore me if you need to!
My daughter has pretty much completed all of her auditions except for Montclair (which she is going to drop) and Molloy (I think she will also drop).
She made it to the first round at Juilliard but wasn’t called back and just heard that BoCo is a no.
This waiting is agonizing!!
She has been accepted to MaryMount (with a scholarship) and academically to Pace (with a scholarship). Her Ithaca portal still looks the same although I’m reading that some people have heard? She felt like she botched the audition. Did anyone else get a message from Carnegie Mellon that their Acting decision date in the 17th? They were a no for MT but had her in the 3rd round for Acting.
Are the rest of the decisions really only coming on April 1st? I’m not sure if I can survive! We’re waiting for Boston U, NYU Tisch, Pace and Ithaca.
all different and way before april 1! i think by mid march. we heard from ithaca but then again she auditioned dec 5. i feel your pain!!! thai is quite the process
My D applied in October and Auditioned 1st week of Dec and hasn’t heard back yet either.
My son was a no for MT with Carnegie Mellon after the vocal callback but was considered for acting and had two rounds of auditions with them(the accept’d site called it a 4th callback, but it really was the third). The message from accept’d did say he should hear something from them on 2/17. I was sort of thinking it meant either 1) you are no longer under consideration or 2) you are still being considered. I just can’t imagine them having definitive "yes"es this early. My son is also still waiting on all of his Pace results - he auditioned for MTA, Film/TV and Acting. For the Acting program, he was called back in the afternoon and the moderators told the remaining group that if they were still there it meant they would either be waitlisted or offered acceptance, but that they would not get a “no”. That is not the way the MT and Tv/film auditions were run. My son still has his audition coming up for Ithaca(on 2/20). He is also waiting to hear from BU, and Tisch too. My son did have a callback type thing with Boston U on Feb 6th where he performed a monologue and spoke with the audition person. (All of these auditions are beginning to become a huge blur for me). Was your daughter called back for that? BU site said that they called back people they needed to see more from but that not getting called back did not mean you were cut.
Hope this helps This is one long and gnarly road…
It is very helpful to hear what everyone is waiting on. Y’all make me feel better!!
We are also waiting on results from all 3 auditions for Pace. No idea when to expect those results!
Waiting to hear after auditions at FSU, penn state, point park, Uncsa, Hartt.
Still have Miami, Webster, Viterbo and Arizona to go.
We have a yes from Rider, waitlist from Montclair and a “passed to our final pool” from Otterbein. Also, yesterday a student from JMU MT pinged my D to ask if she accepted and she said I don’t even have an offer yet.
I am going to need to pick up more wine! Hang in there all and BAL to your kids for this weekend!
My son heard back from Hartt yesterday and was admitted into their MT program:) Hopefully u will hear from them soon!
I’m wondering if CMU is going to announce another round? I can’t figure out what they mean by you’ll receive an update about the status of your app on 2/17. So nerve wracking! Anyone have any info if there will be more steps?
So did your son audition just for Acting? Not Pace film/tv? Trying to figure out if they lumped those auditions together or if you actually have to audition for each BFA.
I am one of last year’s acting parents, but I have always lurked on this board too. I finally have a little bit to contribute this year, as I see a lot of you are waiting on Pace.
Just to give you some info, as I know I was desperate for it last year, Pace made acceptance calls over 6 days (8 if you include the weekend days). They called MT acceptances on Wednesday, March 4th and Thursday, March 5th. Then they called Acting BFA acceptances on Friday, March 6th and Monday, March 9th. The FTVC calls were made on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th. Kids reported getting calls all through the day but even as late at 7:45 at night. Obviously, there may be some outliers to these acceptance calls, but those were the dates most reported getting called.
I don’t have on campus audition information, but during Unifieds last year, Pace held all three Acting auditions together (BFA Acting, FTVC and BA IPE Acting/Directing) in one room with representatives from each major (in our case the program directors). This year I have been told it is different with each acting program holding their own auditions.
Finger crossed for everyone this year! This waiting time was the absolute worst.
If anyone ends up with any Pace Acting questions (or general Pace Performing Arts questions) I am happy to try to answer them for you. My daughter is thriving at Pace and loves everything about the FTVC program.
He had to indicate somewhere(I think on application or get accepted portfolio???) his interest in auditioning for each program separately. So ultimately he had 3 different Pace auditions. Hope that helps.
My D is still waiting to hear from UAB, Wright State, Molloy/CAP 21, Montevallo, Ball St and is “passed to our final pool” from Otterbein. She has an in-person audition at Central Oklahoma a week from today and that will be her final audition. She is so excited to get to have one on-campus audition! Will anyone else be there next weekend?
Yes that was us too for Pace. We indicated that she was interested in all 3 and she has 3 separate auditions. It was a fun day and she was really impressed with the programs and faculty. Thanks for the added info about the timing and calls!!
Huge congrats to him!!!
I had my last callback recently (DePaul) and I just have an interview with Connecticut College left, but they made it clear that it wasn’t an audition.
Most of my schools are BA programs, non-audition, as I am still interested in getting a broader education before jumping into an acting career. That said, I auditioned for Syracuse, UNCSA, DePaul, Fordham, Juilliard and BU (definitely no safeties there). I believe I am still under consideration for all but Juilliard.
For academic I’m mostly applying to LACs with strong theater and humanities programs (Vassar, Wesleyan, Clark, and several others).
For future classes reading these threads, I honestly recommend auditioning for DePaul, if nothing else because of how lovely the callback experience was. Everyone was extremely kind and fun, we did a movement warm-up and scene work in pairs with the professors. It was an awesome change from the polite smile and “whenever you’re ready” of most auditions.
Thank you:) He feels good about their program so that makes me happy for him. Sending good vibes your way for DePaul. He is also still waiting to hear from them and liked his experience at their callbacks too:)
My daughter loved her callback at DePaul — really liked them… she has UNCSA tomorrow (how was that?), CCM tomorrow, Marymount next weekend, and CalArts next weekend. Still waiting for SDSU and Loyola Marymount…
The info session for UNCSA was lovely, Quinn is a super nice guy (I did mine about a week before my audition).
It was five applicants, we were called one by one after a mini info session review as a group. They asked for the order of our pieces (you could pick whatever order you wanted) and then you jumped straight in. I was asked for a second contemporary monologue as well.
Then they asked a couple of questions (I think it was “why do you want to go to this program” and “describe a challenge you faced in theatre”) and let me ask questions at the end. Not a lot of chit chat, but very nice.
