Ugh I hear you, violindad! I’ll bet we will get to meet there. :D

Magalamb, DO NOT DO IT! Part of these applications is adhering to rules and that is for a reason. What you sang was NOT the English art song that they request. You have no idea if they “didn’t object”- frankly, I’m betting that they are waiting to see if you are going to try to walk in an defy their requirement. I don’t mean to be harsh, but for anyone at this point in time, not to be ready with their full required repertoire is inexcusable and shows admissions officers and faculty that you may not be prepared to handle the requirements of a rigorous program. You will have juries at least once a year, perhaps twice, and if you’re not properly prepared, there is no do-over, you will be out on your ear, without time to audition for another program. Get working and go do your very best with exactly what the requirements called for.If they mention the error, apologize and tell them that you have corrected it, don’t make excuses and tell them that "(you) didn’t understand, or that the piece wasn’t ready. That will only hurt you. Good luck! One question, how did your voice teacher ever let you prepare a pre-screen CD with that piece?
Glassharmonica , your D will do great as will your S, violindad! Those are two mighty talented kids!

Looking at the Purchase requirements, Magalamb might not be in so much trouble …
They ask for a song from the 20th century - which if it isn’t the French or German or Italian art songs, it has to be the English song.
And they say Not to change rep from the cd to the live auditions.

Either way, Good Luck!!

editted: Just looked up Classical 20th century in English … there’s plenty of songs so one doesn’t need to resort to MT to comply …

That song still doesn’t qualify, it’s too recent (within the last 10 years and is not one that is found in a song anthology which could allow it to pass by). Yes, it’s a technicality, but not one worth risking without checking first. Magalamb, send them an e-mail and inquire as to whether you may change your English piece from what you submitted. That way you have it in writing (make sure you take a copy of that along with you too!).

I applied to 10 schools which include NEC, MSM, CIM, Eastman, Peabody, USC, UCLA…etc. and passed almost all prescreen! Still waiting to hear back from NEC though. Very very nervous.

For Eastman and Peabody, I will be doing regional auditions in LA. I would not consider myself as one of those superstar violinists, but I am a decent player with great musicality if not the best techniques. Will I have a chance at Eastman or Peabody? :/

Hello all! Have any vocal applicants heard back from McGill yet? The Schulich website said that they don’t send out dates until 3-4 weeks before the audition weekend, which would be between now and next week…
