Unless you are from a dumb state (like me). Ugh there's no space for awards this is ridiculous. I asked my teacher to write about a few in the letter.

How are you guys doing the essays? Can we use contractions, or is this like "formal writing?" I took it as "college essay writing," which takes a more familiar tone.

I'm writing formal essays. About how many words for the four short answer questions would you say is "concise"? I was thinking less than 200, but I'm really not sure.

Anybody from Tennesee get an application?

Anybody not started yet? :)

^ Are you serious?!!!

My essays all vary in length; 292, 270, 235, 411, 792 words.

I started on my essays yesterday :-). I'm almost in the not started camp.

I mailed mine yesterday because my online form was messed up. Had to spend an extra $18.

i am in the not started camp...hio!

Yikes! I hope you've got the counselor and evaluator forms done. You can't procrastinate on those.

Why do I always have to procrastinate? There's always something more interesting to do than essays or homework, like post on CC.

i got the other parts of the app out real quick...my teacher/counselor turned their stuff in last thurs/fri so it's just up to me to do my part...i'm on break this week anyway so i've got all day today and tomorrow

Question - on these essays do they want like insight or do they just want to know the facts (what you have contributed etc.)...should i make something heartfelt and deep or just lay out the plain accomplishment that looks most noteworthy/prestigious?

I had long essays. All of mine were the character limit except the long one which was only half. Is that bad?

swmmr984, I got one in tn!

...but I haven't really started yet, either. I'm kinda worried about the word limit stuff too, zogoto. I started writing my long essay (10600 characters) and I can't for the life of me get over ~7000 characters. I'm wondering whether essays that are less (...a lot less...) than the limit will keep someone from qualifying for finalist.

Geez. 7000 characters is enough, isn't it? I certainly hope so, because I would be happy with 5000 characters.

I'm from TN too.

s'vrone, I agree with you- 10000+ seems soooo excessive. It surprises me that PSP is allowing for so much verbosity through its character allotment, since they specifically ask you to be concise at the top of the form. I can't decide if I should keep adding on to my essays to get even remotely close to the limits, or if I should leave good enough alone, you know what i mean?

One more thing-they ask for the 1st choice college, and it doesn't look like you can put undecided. I know we sign a release at the end of the app making some of our info public, but I wonder whether this college choice will be revealed/ available to ad coms as well.

any other candidates from new mexico around here?

For the picture thing, is it ok if I have a photo of me and the person who the essay's about?

zogoto, I think that would be appropriate. Maybe you could find some way to clarify that the picture is of you and the subject of your essay and differentiate between the 2 of you, just to avoid confusion....

after you qualify with your SAT, what are actual admissions based on?

grades?
essays?
extracurricular?

probably all three, if so, which one is the most important?

would i be auto-rejected because i only have a 3.6uw?
