Congrats to all accepted students for Class of 2012. My dd writeon is walking about 3 feet off the ground, FSU is her #1 choice and she couldn't be more ecstatic! All of you CC noles are going to have an incredible college experience at FSU!

Thought we would pass on info concerning Preview. According to Admissions the following dates will be Preview for Admitted Students:

Oh by the way, CONGRATULATIONS!! I feel almost as excited as if I was waiting for the news this year. My younger son has a few more years until we will be in this position again.

Yes - congratulations!! It has been exciting watching the results.

Here's another secret to freshman life at FSU:

Go to Preview. It is interesting and fun. While at Preview - GET YOUR FSU ID CARD! Avoid the rush at Orientation, unless standing in line for a long time is what you like to do. :)

Congratulations to All newly accepted 'NOLES! I, too, am excited for you and shared your angst as you awaited the decision. Your enthusiasm in contagious. BTW, much appreciation to Parent2Noles & CyberMom for their always informative and upbeat postings. You certainly present FSU in a wonderful light, as it well deserves.

I second the recommendation to get your FSU ID card at Preview. My DS went to Preview without me -his choice, not mine ;[ I think this was his way of beginning the separation from home and becoming more independent ;). He tried to get his FSU ID card, however you have to pay the $200 deposit first. (your commitment to going to FSU). Since I had not yet, he could not get his card. (I tried not to rub it in too much that if I had been there...!)

When we went to Orientation, I was the one to stand in line at 7:15-30ish a.m.(was 2nd in the queue!) until they opened at 8:00. My son arrived at 8:15, so I let a few folks pass in front of me. We were done by about 9:00, in time for the first orientation session,so it isn't too bad, IF you are early in the queue; the line DID get long, so those in the back must have missed their mandatory session!

The FSUCARD is the photo id ticket to EVERYTHING at FSU.
A new card is $10 and replacement cards are $15.
It is a meal ticket, smart card for vending machines/copy machines/laundry, debit card for banking when attached to a Suntrust account, computer room id, library card, entrance ticket to entertainment/athletic events, calling card, and building/dorm access.

D will attend. I think she plans a trip with a few friends who will also be attending. Plan is to stay in the dorms with freshman who they know and refine their dorm list after seeing the "real thing" outside of a tour. Not sure which date. I think one of the dates in March they are off school.

If this is the case, I'll go to orientation with her.

On Friday FSU finally made it official - they are cutting 1000 spots in the freshmen class for 2008.

The target is 2000 freshmen for summer and 3300 for fall. Last year 6300 were admitted, this year is will only be 5300.

Numbers will be cut from the low academic (SAT/ACT/GPA) end of applicants still waiting on a decision and serious review will take place of accepted students' final hs grades.

500 spaces are also being cut from accepted transfers and only transfers with an AA degree will be accepted.

Hey- what exactly is preview? I couldnt find anything about it on the website; maybe I am not looking hard enough... maybe somebody could post the link for me? I was accepted to FSU along with some other places as a transfer but I think im set on FSU..

Preview is an early (before Orientation), more in-depth look at FSU for students trying to decide on a university.

For those who have already decided to attend FSU Preview is a way to ensure you like your dorm and get your FSU ID card before the huge rush at Orientation, among other things.

and only transfers with an AA degree will be accepted.

This info is even on the application page now. No applications for spring 09, and no more transfer applications for fall or spring unless you are a Florida student with an AA degree transferring in.

The 1000 less admits has been posted with links someone on the board. I will try to locate. I thought the numbers were 5200 not 5300, but yes, this is true.

here is a link to the preview information. we are from the nyc metro area and will not be going down for preview, just orientation. if you live near fsu, it might be worthwhile. you can get your id (as p2noles has suggested), visit and review dorms, find out more info about courses and majors etc.

we would go if we lived closer. here is the link....

My D and two of her friends are going to preview. My friend had been emailing back and forth with someone in the visitor's center, trying to find a date to visit with the girls that wasn't already full up. We didn't realize that FSU didn't do any Sat. dates. Anyway, the lady invited the girls (juniors) to the Good Friday preview as it worked out with a day they had off school. We're pleased as it'll give them a more in-depth opportunity to look at the school than the normal visitation. I love more bang for your buck. <g></g>
