Well, we are in Tallahasee this weekend. We came up for the Preview today, and are staying over a couple of days. The weather is perfect, about 77 degrees, kids in bathing suits all over the lawns. I love this campus--my daughter is going here next year, my husband graduated from here in 79--I wish I could go here!

Oh I also wanted to add–there had been an earlier thread comparing FSU/UF and people from UF were saying that nobody who had been accepted at both schools would chose FSU over UF. Well, my daughter didn’t apply at UF, however, this week, when the admissions decisions from UF came out, she had about 6 friends who were accepted. Two of them are chosing FSU, one is chosing UCF, and one is chosing St. Leo.

I agree, zoodle, what the “UFers” were saying is totally not true. I and many others chose FSU over UF last year. Once I set foot on the beautiful campus, I knew this was the best place to be. It was an easy choice for me, and one that I have not regretted for a second!

Wow, awesome weather! That’s Florida for ya!
What were some of the things you guys did at the preview? Do you recommend going to a preview or should I just wait until orientation in June? Also, what’s the campus like? Is it huge or can I get around by walking?

It was really fun, and low pressure. I don’t know how far away you live, but we are about 3 hours away, so we went. If you are really far, you don’t have to go. You really can learn everything by exploring online. We went up in the summer for a tour, my husband graduated from there, and we also explored on our own. The preview was fun because you knew you were already accepted, and so you could really look at things and picture how you would want to live, if you know what I mean, rather than worrying about wheter or not you would be accepted and what would happen from there. You can pay your tuition deposit and your room deposit, which we had already done. You can get your student ID made, but my daughter left her license in the car and then decided she wanted to wait till orientation, cause she’ll be tan.

The dorm tours were the best. And once we parked our car, we walked everywhere. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it.

We also went because she has a few friends who are already students there, and I stayed in a hotel and she went to parties with them and stayed in the dorm with them. She’s been wanting to do this for a while, and I just didn’t want her driving by herself. We combined the preview with her visit to her friends. She had a great time and can’t wait to go.
