D is going to Preview 3/21. She wants to be able to "see" more of the dorms and dining before she has to finalize her dorm choices for fall. I think she feels more pressure with a low number (30) for fall. She knows she will likely get choice one or two. For now she wants to room with a friend who has number 50-something. Even at 50+, she hates to pick a first choice, get it and then not be crazy about the location...... So off we go. This way she can also get her FSU card, set up her bank account, etc. Will report back later. She finally signed in with a CC account, but communicates with future FSU students more on facebook than anything.

Have a great time! We will be awaiting your report.

Glad to hear it went well, skibird! :)

sunnyflorida,

Hope your daughter has a great time at Preview and is able to accomplish everything on her "to do" list.

She can check out the daily menu on the FSU website for Freshfood and the Suwanee room to help in the decision of where to check out the dining situation.

Also, Einstein Bagels at the Union is great for a latte or what not.

She will probably have such a wonderful time that she won't want to come home!

We look forward to hearing about her trip to Tally!

Thanks for the tips. She is a Starbucks fan, so I know where she will be gettin her lattes!!. I think I will have to put her on a Starbucks budget next year. I am driving up with her, as friends went up earlier, when she had SGA "states" and could not go. I will report back if she doesn't.

Thanks! As you all said, Preview was very helpful. I had already signed up for Orientation and paid my housing and admissions deposit, and I was the very first one for the day to get my ID made. :) It's nice to not have to worry about that anymore.

I was able to meet with students who are majoring in the same thing as me, and students who are, well...current students. The presentations were all pretty helpful. I found out that biology majors are automatically chem minors. Didn't know that...

But it was very informative and I got to ask all the questions I had. Every single question was answered thoroughly and I even went ahead and got peoples' emails.

I was super interested in their study abroad program as well, and I got the encouragement I needed at Preview to go through with it. Students who had already gone had radiant "reviews". :)

So going to Preview out-of-state...for me, it was certainly worth the 1,000 mile drive.

pallivita--wish we had known you would be there, we would have tried to meet up!

D had a good preview. She got her FSU card, set up her SunTrust account, and best of all, toured multiple dorms. She really likes the eastside dorms, and has her two top choices now. The session with Health Science/Exercise Science was helpful, and she received a written copy of the Academic Mapping and requirements. She kept expressing a desire to just stay and start at FSU NOW!!. She is glad she will be starting in June and not having to wait until August.

Wow! It sounds like PREVIEW was very worthwhile for you both.

For those that can't make it, fear not, you can get it all done at orientation. But for those who can, its just another nice taste of FSU!

My D and a couple of her friends went to preview, too. They're juniors this year, and the admissions folks made them feel very welcome. It was great for all of them to get so much in one day ... helped my daughter get a better handle on the pre-med program, and going through all the dorms was also very worthwhile ... much more to look at than a typical tour would provide. She's definitely keeping FSU on her list.
