If anyone has any insight into the Preview vs. Orientation program, I sincerely appreciate any suggestions and advice such as is attending Preview recommended and when and what happens during Orientation ? Thanks

Well, Preview is generally for people interested in FSU, who might just want to see the campus or tour the department that houses their major, and Orientation is after you’ve agreed to attend FSU.

At Orientation you’re taught about some of FSU’s history, their policies and expectations, and you get to spend time with the advisor for your major and pick your classes for your first semester.

If you’re interested in FSU but want to see the campus before finalizing your decision, it’s a good idea to attend Preview if you can.

I loved my orientation, it was fun, a bit hectic due to so many people there, but very interesting, and intellectual. I love how the family can come : ) and they get to participate and learn about FSU as well. Although -.- $35.00 per person was a bit steep I think for just learning about the campus.

I’m not sure if you’ve accepted FSU as of yet, but if you do, and when you do attend the orientation make the best of it. Take notes of the presentations they’ll provide, because they do provide lots of great information for starting out your new adventure here!

OP, orientation last summer was $62 per person but I feel like it was worth it. You meet with all types of reps from the various departments and offices and eve have break out sessions based upon your interests (my daughter went to the student boosters break out session to buy her membership since it guarantees your game tickets and the one about sororities since she knew she was going to rush). They had a motivational speaker who was really very good and interactive and you can freely ask questions at any of the sessions. Preview was really just a tour of campus and a few basic facts. Leaving orientation you will have alot more information than you did leaving preview and you will learn about things you didn’t even think about before orientation. Highly recommended.
