Well, congrats to everyone who has gotten in already! Keeping my fingers crossed and that’s so cool, @SamSeb1. I’m in the UK too - out of interest, where else did you apply and where would you have gone if Princeton hadn’t taken you off? (Or you could still go there I guess if you decide Princeton isn’t for you!)

@vanessa123 Thanks and Good luck! I applied to 5 other US schools: Harvard, Yale, Williams, Columbia and Dartmouth. All around rejections haha. This was my last possible one so I’m really shocked tbh

@SamSeb1 Aww, kind of similar to me then! I got rejected from almost every school I applied to in the US too (and I was kind of expecting it because let’s face it, everything is so competitive now)! Did you not apply to any schools in the UK, though? I ended up accepting and insuring my UK university offers because while I’d love to get into Princeton, I really don’t think it’ll happen!

@vanessa123 yeah it’s so hard nowadays… And it sucks because it can be such a lottery. I only applied to Oxford in the Uk… My predicted grades where typed in wrong by my school and my application was rejected so I had nowhere and it was then I applied for the US. Where have you got in the UK? Well it’s so flukey, there’s no point worrying so long as you’ve tried your hardest.

@SamSeb1 agreed! Once you have the grades and extracurriculars, everything seems to be a numbers game. And I can’t believe that happened to you I applied for Econ & Management at Oxford too but presumably, I didn’t get an interview because my admissions test score was too low (for some reason the system wouldn’t let me log on to see my test score but since that’s all they base whether you get an interview or not off of I’m guessing I must have missed the baseline score)
I got into LSE and Warwick - they were my only two offers actually - so hopefully, if I meet the requirements, I’ll get into LSE! I’m super stoked to leave for uni and yeah, I tried my best so what will be will be now!

@vanessa123 At the time I was so annoyed, plus I had a choral scholarship which I really wanted to take up. But hey. Ooh E&M. My dad teaches the Econ half at Oxford actually. Yeah the TSA’s tough cos you can’t really revise. I applied for PPE but I did well in my TSA which is even more annoying. LSE and Warwaick are awesome anyway

@Samseb1 Geez, yeah, I would be so angry if that happened to me! I personally wasn’t too gutted about being rejected from Oxford because I didn’t try very hard to prep for the TSA in the first place, but your case really does suck. It’s all worked out though because you have Princeton now! Just wondering, did they offer you full financial aid? I know they’re ‘need-blind’ and ‘full-need’ and all that jazz, but sometimes things work out a little differently for waitlisted students :-S

Congrats to everyone who got accepted. Did you get an email, or was it just a phone call?

@vanessa123 within an hour I had an email from the Bursary Department. I got 90% off per year, so yeah. Remember they decide how much you get off before they decide if you’re gunna be let in, @jeromebaek Phone call. Then they said they’re sending a letter.

When do you guys have to decide by?

@spuding102 Wednesday (tomorrow)

Are any of you declining the offer?

Our D is accepting the offer! She’s very excited–it’s an amazing opportunity. And just to clarify- and for the future CCers trying to figure all of this crazy waitlist stuff out…
~She did not send an update (even though she had things she could have told them–she just thought it was such a long shot, and was pretty burnt out on the college process)
~She got TERRIFIC financial aid–almost a full ride
~She was phoned on Wednesday the 21st, late morning, first at home, but when no answer at home they called the school
~She was given one week to decide–she had to click the “accept” button by 1 pm Wednesday the 28th
~According to the admissions officer who called her, she was the first to be called (at least from that person’s list)
~They mailed a nice “Dear Prospective Princeton student” pack to follow up the phone call (with info geared to admitted students)

Oh, and last but not least, she WAS one of the people who got the infamous “Missing Financial Aid Application” email!

What a wild ride it has been! We’re elated, and so very proud of all her work!

@wondertime. Congratulations! If offered a spot off this WL we too would have a tough decision since our D is also wildly enthusiastic about where she has already been accepted. Decisions like these are tough but it sure is nice to be in the position to make them. Would it be possible for you to say which school was turned down for the spot at Princeton?

has anyone gotten a rejection email/notification?

Has anyone heard about the second “wave” of admittances (based on the assumption that the Admissions Office is keeping with the Wednesday notification pattern)?

Can somebody call admissions tomorrow and ask if there will be a second wave?

Im an educator (my child (loose term now!) is a Princeton student). My advice if you havent already…get your guidance counselors involved…they should be making calls, sending emails on your behalf… 8 kids from school got off waitlists (2 to harvard)… amazing guidance counselors who help… I hope you have reached out to yours!

One of my Facebook friends got taken off the waitlist last Thursday (approximately). She was originally going to MIT.

From doing some stalking on the Class of 2018’s Facebook page the admission office seems to have taken people off the wait list throughout the last two or three weeks - one boy was offered a place on May 27.

Has anybody received replies for email updates you sent to the admission office?
