Princeton Class of 2021 Waitlist Thread

for what it’s worth, I emailed them asking if acceptances were still being made…

“We may or may not continue to take students from Princeton’s waitlist. We will inform you of our decision by the end of June at the latest. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

@drakefaded12 Congrats! Are you going to attend?

I emailed Princeton an update & they said it would be added to my file… I think the waitlist spots are probably filled but they’re waiting to see if they lose any students to the “summer melt” (i.e. someone committed to Princeton gets accepted from the waitlist at Stanford, etc.)

For what is it is worth, last year many waitlisted students were apparently released by USPS letter around June 15-20th.

Well, I had so many cool things happening to me over the last months that I cannot deny the probability of Janet Rapelye deciding to tell me the good news on my birthday in 9 days  I physically can imagine her with all the admission officers in May saying: Hey, let’s prank this guy writing a note to call me in GoogleCalender for June 21. A grey-haired Uzbek (the result of nervous waiting for another two months) will certainly add to our diversity from both standpoints.
You can criticize me, but this image is the only thing that keeps me from crying every day. I know that some people from Office should read this- so if it is true - call me right now as I know your dirty plans. Check and mate, Janet and the team.

Hey, waitlist brothers and sisters. It seems that for the majority of us it is over. I wish you all the best. Yes, some of us, including me are so desperate that we still believe. But the facts are the facts. The only thing I wish to know is whether applying next year EA ( I went regular ) given that I was waitlisted will give me a slight edge. If yes, I am working even more and prolonging waitlist to December 15. All the best guys- life is not over… yet.

@uzbekistan21 - life isn’t over. Tough process and my kid in same boat. What is school have you commited to?

@uzbekistan21 hey happy early birthday  wish you the best too - i’ll be taking a gap year too to reapply this fall if the waitlist doesn’t work out. im still working out what i want to do during my year off but in the meanwhile i guess we’ve got some more waiting to do :’) :’)

@intothewilde, a non-admitted GAP year is a very risky proposition unless you have a very enriching program in place - colleges won’t view that as a good decision.

@intothewilde I agree with @Chembiodad. I’d recommend just committing to a school you were considering as a second/third option and then trying to transfer to Princeton. Although I don’t know if it’s too late to commit to a school already.

I have options in China , Russia , Singapore , also we have good institutions in our capital city - Tashkent. However , I am committed to Princeton , and in fact I have work to do for the next year if I am not admitted. We have started a company called ImpregNation , and recently our ideas were seen by UNECE in Geneve , and MassChallenge in Israel , so was invited to live in Israel for two months. Most probably , I will find funding there. In addition , I am just 17 at the moment , so I guess it is not a big deal for me to wait for a year.

The problem with me is that I have got a lot to offer to Princeton, but my SAT score is pretty low for an international student. To be true , in October I did not even know what SAT was. I remember an evening when I read that SAT and IELTS should be taken , not SAT or IELTS as I thought. At that time I just reserved three exams for the next three months. Given that there were no teachers at all , and I had to study on my own , it is not too bad but anyway.

I mean when you know your weak points and you are going to do something with them - do not see it impossible to get into Princeton. Plus , waitlist as I was explained means that they have seen something in you , but at the same time you lacked something. I pretty much self-aware about two of these things , and already have a plan to strengthen good points and weaken poor points.

Any more calls? Was anyone released from the waitlist yet?

Nothing - sure it is done or 1-2 more acceptances coming and letters drafted ready to mail that it is full.

Last day, folks?!

Why haven’t they updated anyone yet?

Rejection letters are in the mail - received one yesterday…
