I sent a letter with some “breaking news” yesterday, but would it be okay to send other updates between now and June 30? Assuming we have breaking news?
Can someone please DM me or post the Princeton Wait List FAQ that was sent in the mail? I can’t seem to find it online and my mom accidentally threw it away.
Thanks!
Called the admissions office yesterday. Princeton is still waiting for mail-ins before determining if they will use the waitlist.
@grr2021 Did they say when they would receive mail-ins? I was about to call but am wondering if they’ll just tell me the same thing…
@Swillow1022 Well of course, the deadline was to be postmarked by May 1st, so depending where you live it would take different amounts of time.
@grr2021 Haha, that makes sense, I was just wondering if they gave you a ballpark range of when they would know. Do people still mail decisions in? It seems so unusual when it’s so much easier/more efficient/more reliable to do it online.
One I know was taken off waitlist today … good luck all!
@researcherz Congrats to them! Where are they located (if you don’t mind me asking)? Do you know what time they received the call?
It seems unusually early for them to be accepting from the waitlist already… Especially since on the 4th they were still waiting for mail-ins and in past years people haven’t been accepted until the 20th. Has anyone else heard?
Located in New York its sure that it happened.
My Son received a call from Princeton today accepting his application from the waitlist. He was in class when the call came in and his teacher allowed him to take the call. He came home to tell me after school and I was skeptical, so I called back the counselor and she described all details necessary for my Son to accept the waitlist offer. She expressed many other important academic facts about Princeton and stated that he will receive confirmation by next day air letter. My guess is that he will attend Princeton. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy your future University studies wearever you are attending.
We live in Northwest Florida.
@Screennamekiddo - did your portal change after the admit call?
@Screennamekiddo congrats to your son!
Hello, According to the Assistant admission person that my Son and I spoke with the portal will change in 24-48 hrs.
I am still in shock, as my Son was expecting to go to U of Miami with a generous merit scholarship and closer to home. He is an only child and thanks to the last 8 years of financial gains we can afford Princeton. He might need to make sure to find funding for graduate school or receive a merit based scorlorship. I wish all of you the best. Remember that all of your effort will eventually benefit you no matter where you study.
Wow, that’s really strange. They’ve never made a decision before the 14th in past years, and on Friday were still waiting for mail-ins. Did your son have any special connections? I’m highly suspecting this to be a t-word as they promise to review every person on the waitlist before making a decision, and it’s only been 1 business day since they were WAITING for mail-ins.
@grr2021 That’s what I was thinking as well… Seems strange. I think I might call again today and ask if they’ll be using the waitlist.
My daughter received a phone call yesterday as well letting her know that she was accepted off the waitlist. They did not say anything about mailing a letter, but said that it would be on her portal today. We live 5 miles from campus, so I assume regular mail will be quick. She had not submitted any other materials or letters…
She already accepted a four-year full-ride merit scholarship at another highly regarded program, so the dinner table conversation last night was tough, we have three other children to put through college. We need to await to see what Princeton offers to make an informed decision.
@njfisherman Thank you for letting us know!! Good to hear from someone with more than 1 post on here. Congrats to your daughter!
Does anyone know the effect of a number of students taking a gap year has on the wait list? In other words, if Princeton finds this year that there are more students requesting to take a gap year (which I suspect from anecdotal evidences), do they tap into those on the wait list to round up the desired class number?
Thanks for asking, I agree, it seemed strange to me as well that is why I was skeptical. We do not have any connections to Princeton. My Son was waitlisted at U of Chicago (I understand Chicago waitlists many) and also Columbia University. His GPA, ACT/SAT and subject test scores are very high. We did visit the campus last summer and hoped he would get accepted.
