I also received a phone call yesterday, and they said a letter will be sent today. Crossing my fingers for a great financial aid package!
Anyone get off the wait list who lives on the West Coast? Seems all so far are East Coast
My son called Princeton this morning and was informed that 50 students have already gotten admit offers.
Good luck to all of you!
@dejectedmom Wow that’s much more than were accepted total last year… Did they say if they were planning on accepting any more? Or is it only if people turn down the offer?
I’m becoming skeptical about their claim that they don’t rank, it seems near impossible to go through a 1,000 applications in a matter of days.
Anyone here planning on turning down Princeton’s offer?
I called the admissions office just now to clarify the above question and was informed that as of now, they “don’t know if any more offers for admission will be made”. Probably means that they are done with their first wave, and all depends on how many students accept their offers.
I got a call yesterday informing me that I got off the waitlist. I’m from Nevada. Are letters being sent out today?
I’m from Las Vegas, Nevada and I was admitted.
Has anyone’s portal been updated / do you know if we’ll be able to see financial aid info once it is? I live quite a ways from Princeton so I’m a little worried about getting my mailed info juuuust before the deadline to commit.
When I called Princeton, they said they didn’t know yet how many offers of admission will be made. I’m confused by all this conflicting information they’re giving us. I don’t know why they would say that when clearly, some people have already gotten offers.
@realityhitshard Did you call today? I’m confused as well, but perhaps they’re waiting to see how many students choose to take a gap or Bridge year?
@chelys I have been checking my portal regularly since I got the call yesterday and about an hour ago the portal changed. The acceptance letter isn’t on it, but the waitlist decision forms are gone. Is this the same for you? The admissions officer that called me yesterday told me that it should be up later tonight.
Logically I would not think the number of students that choose a gap or bridge year would matter as this number would be relatively the same from year to year so that last year’s gap/bridgers will take the place of this year’s gap/bridgers.
@realityhitshard It seems Princeton has a made a number of offers with a deadline and it’s probably too small a sample to accurately forecast the yield so they have to wait to see what they yield is before they can determine if there will be further offers.
Did anyone receive an admission phone call today, or we’re all calls received Monday?
@steinbecklongs It’s the same for me! Hope they come up soon!
@Dolemite Yes, usually I think that’s the case and probably will be this year. What I meant is that may be why they’re being vague–they can’t be totally sure of how many kids will choose to take a gap/Bridge year. Even if only one more student this year chose to do so that would affect the number of spaces.
@Swillow1022 Wow, we’re really on the same page here. I’m really frustrated by the lack of transparency from Princeton’s office—it seems they are automatically giving offers first for diversity geographically, given the offers from Florida, Miami, and Nevada. Though I would be OK with it if they disclosed in advance, it’s very, very frustrating to hear these vague answers and realize that the “waitlist” decision was simply a courtesy rejection.
@chelys they’re up!
@grr2021 I don’t think it was based on location because they accept a large amount of Florida students… And someone mentioned here they were accepted off the waitlist and live in New Jersey. But I’m with you on transparency; I don’t think it’s a courtesy rejection, but I do think they had some sort of idea who they’d accept from the waitlist from the start (whether or not it was an official “ranking” type situation)
@Swillow1022 Just reread my letter and it says, “Each student … will be considered individually based on availability of places in the class.” Did they really read 100+ LOCI in less than 4 days? I find myself frustrated at this practice, but I realize that the waitlist is primarily used to fill holes in the class as the first priority anyways. Yet, it is still a devious practice indeed to lie to students about the lack of a “ranking” system.
