Princeton ED Lounge

and with our current 6-7 word posts, it now appears that that number will multiply tenfold in the next 3 days.

lol, sounds good to me.

hahahahahahha well thats the beauty. whats a prediction of the number of posts 3 days from now? 2000?

You know, our post count is only this high because of this thread...which I started. =)

i'm neglecting my hw for this

Yes, props to Bokonon for our wonderful lounge.

what did you guys put for your favorite song

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen

I think a lot of people put albums though.

omg, i love that song. i actually like the version by Jeff Buckley better.

This is the part of the application I have been agonizing over most, not because I think it matters, but because I've been trying to figure it out. I have so many candidates but right now it's either

Unfinished Sympathy-Massive Attack
or
Roads-Portishead
or
Somersault-Zero7
or
Excess-Tricky
or
Don't Let it Bring You Down-Annie Lennox's version

and many others

lol don't stress over this! pick two if you can't pick one. Roll a dice? It doesn't matter much.

i know it doesn't but i'm trying to figure it out. for some reason princeton's online app never saves what i write in that space (i don't know why)

zante you want to do prelaw right? i'm curious about prelaw but I'm not sure if I want to do it. any ideas as to why you want to go on that route?

(PS i'm a foreign language major)

I interned at a big global corporate law firm in the summer and learned a lot about what they do. I like the whole corporate atmosphere in the first place, but I really enjoyed doing these mock mergers and acquisitions negotiations. I think I would want to do corporate global law (I don't want to litigate, so I'd do those negotiations, either in M&A or Securitization and Derivatives). I want to continue taking spanish and pick up Chinese in college (I speak it but i'm illiterate =/) so I could do real global projects. I think it's a good route to go if you are a foreign language major, going along with what I said about global law.

The only offputting thing about law is the long hours, lots of boring reading and writing, but they earn good salaries and it's not monotonous if you're working on a case or a deal, I think.

So I'm actually thinking of trying for Woody Woo because I don't know what to major in. Hope that helped.

thanks, yeah that helped.

my concern was law school, sounds tough and boring. i think i might go into education, i'm not sure though. there's that bit of uncertainty that you can play with. (to steal a quote from my favorite movie, "Beginnings" on the admissions website haha)

it's so great to talk about princeton as if you're going...then the reality sets in....

:(

lol I know! I didn't even realize I was talking that way.
I also love everyone on this board, but we probably will never meet if we don't get in.
:(

lol. Let's talk about princeton like we're going again.

So yeah I think I'm going to join an eating club, but I'm not sure yet I want to find out more about it. I'm definitely doing one of the ones that is open to all, though. I don't really think I care that much to apply.

Also, I want to do a substance-free dorm. I heard they're nicer and more renovated anyway, plus underage substance abuse is an important issue for me.

Have you ever gone through the undergraduate course catalogue and just been like: wow I want to take all of these classes?

Woody Woo is awesome. I want to either major in it or get a certificate in it. That's awesome that you're thinking about law. Do you eventually want to do the combined J.D./MBA for grad school or just J.D.?

I would actually like to do a combined J.D./MBA program, but I haven't really looked into them. It seems like they're either really hard to get into, or are only offered at not-so-good schools. This summer I'm going to work at an investment bank and see if I like that better, but right now I'd pretty sure about law.

I don't know that much about the substance-free dorms, what are they like? It seems like they're not completely substance-free though.

I don't know why Princeton gets ragged on so much for eating clubs, I think they're kinda neat and I would love to join one.

I think the ring of "eating club" sounds elitist to people who don't know about them, heck, even I never considered Princeton before I visited on a whim because I was turned off by eating cubs.

Yea but if you're part of the elitist crowd...lol
