@florida13mom To further demonstrate the luck of college admissions, let me tell you that I was accepted to Middlebury with a pretty solid application and a few key hooks but below average test scores and my friend, who scored a 36 on the ACT and is valedictorian of her class (accepted to cornell ea), was waitlisted. Like @yalebound2020 said, it really depends on the other applicants and how or if you can fit into the ideal class the college is trying to build. Perhaps they were looking for someone who spoke several languages like myself, rather than a skilled harpist like my friend this year.
@AnastasiaAliyev - Exactly. Well rounded class, NOT INDIVIDUAL. Let me guess: one of those languages is Russian?
@CCanon1997 I think that what @yalebound2020 meant was that colleges do sometimes admit students for some defining factor that’s out of their control, like their ethnicity or geographic location. Of course, it should be said that a college would NEVER admit a student if they weren’t qualified enough, but the way that s/he phrased that statement was a little ambiguous in its connotation and I can see how you could take it offensively.
Thank you moderator =D>
@Fuzerabit: What did I miss? I just stepped back to have dinner and I missed what???
@SD2020
Back and forth bantering that shall not be brought up again!
I’m not a big reality show fan but I sure enjoy CC real time drama! LOL
@yalebound2020 Haha yes, Russian, French, Spanish, and Italian B-)
Will regular decisions be sent out via snail mail? Or posted online? Thanks!
@turquoiselibrary Decisions posted online March 31 at 5 PM EDT.
Guys I just called Princeton about the emails we mostly all received this past Friday about missing documents, and the Financial Aid person said they did have my things, so then you could disregard the email; then IDK why this sent this to us
Hi all, quick question - did any of you submit an additional recommendation letter to Princeton?
I did, idk how much it is going to help though, since mine wasn’t an academic recommendation letter
@tamales Yes, I submitted one extra and then I found out that one of my teachers also sent an additional rec to all of my schools without telling me (as in, not one of my original teacher recs) because she had so much to say about me. So overall, 2 extra letters.
there’s much speculation around the whole financial aid thing. did anybody NOT submit all of their documents and not receive an email? I got an email because I was missing documents and with a few exceptions i’m assuming that’s the reason why most others got it as well.
@JungleJim4232 I did NOT submit all my financial aid documents, and I did not receive an email.
@JungleJim4232 @admitmemaybe Just wondering, did your recommenders get an notification from Princeton about their letter? My lab mentor submitted one for me and told me she got an email from Princeton that seemed oddly personal. I hate reading into things, but of course I’m going to read into things.
@tamales I have no idea, I’m sorry! But that could be a good thing for you!
@tamales I think we have no option but to read into things with uni apps It could mean a number of things, did she elaborate on what the email said?
@admitmemaybe Alright, no worries best of luck to you in the upcoming days!
@vossari Haha agreed - every little thing that I do or don’t receive freaks me out. From what I recall, it was something along the lines of thanking her for taking the time to write the letter and for supporting me through my application process. My memory of it is pretty vague as it was a very brief conversation in an elevator haha. It did surprise me though, because Princeton was one of the schools that seemed very dead set against supplementary materials…
