I honestly see this whole PFAA thing as people somehow trying to make their incompetence look like a positive… There were some documents you forgot to submit on time, and all of a sudden Princeton reminding you about them = a sign of admittance?
The only reason why it has correlation with admittance is because why would they notify you to submit your application for financial aid when they are going to reject you? Seems odd.
Princeton explicitly states that their Financial Aid offices and Admissions office operates separately, unless we are now discussing whether or not they’re lying.
@Kyuutoryuu Not likely, because there are people on this thread (including me) that stated that we didn’t have all our FA documents turned in, but still did not receive such a courteous reminder email. You can look at past years’ threads too, you will see that there is a general correlation between email and waitlist/accept.
Getting a reminder about FA documents is definitely not a sign of incompetence…I got an email ~2 weeks ago about not having turned in tax forms yet when my family hadn’t even finished filling out the W2.
ALSO earlier today i was taking some random “which ivy league school are you” quiz and I got Princeton…is this a sign? maybe???
I don’t know, everyone. I didn’t receive an email, but my father (who filled out my finaid apps) is a Mr. Johnny on the spot and a master of organization. God bless him, he had taxes and everything done by the deadline, so whether Princeton has admitted me or not, they didn’t need to email me because they already had everything.
That being said, I understand the argument that they might not bother to ask you for more/a clarification of financial aid stuff if you didn’t at least have a shot, as that (correctly) served as an indication that I was admitted to one of my match schools. However, that is a school were the admissions office and finaid office work hand in hand, which Princeton claims doesn’t happen at their university.
I had received the PFAA mail in late February, but I don’t think there’s a correlation. Why would Princeton accept me now…I am an international applicant with average SAT scores, who was rejected by MIT, Caltech, Berkeley, Stanford and even Rice…and waitlisted by UChicago. Crushed hopes, all I can say, so I really don’t want to ponder over whether the PFAA mail has any correlation, even if past years’ threads provide proof, I will pass it as coincidence.
@ammoopi Yeah, I guess I will remain hopeful in the end. Hope is a funny thing, even after being literally bashed up, it still continues!
Princeton is my top choice, so I guess that might be part of the reason why Elpis wins! (Elpis is the spirit of hope btw, according to Greek mythology )
hey does someone know if home mortgage payments are regarded as an expense for the PFAA? or does Princeton not consider the home mortgage payment at all?
My counselor received an email from Princeton few hours back that had names of 5 of us students from the school and they asked my counselor that out of these 5, which 2 would he ‘enthusiastically recommend’ :o We all found this quite weird
@oawnstar this is weird! Haven’t heard this happen before, but it’s quite possible that you were all very strong applicants and they’re trying to find some way to distinguish you. This might be a good time to ask if your counsellor accepts bribes
@vossari
We all thought that was a prank but the email really did say that. My counselor put the ball in their court by replying that “all of those 5 are equally deserving candidates and unique in their own way. Can’t distinguish.” Now fingers crossed!
