@hooverhoo I am on semester, and I have no inconsistencies in my grades whatsoever. It was a good theory, but I’m afraid it didn’t quite pan out.
Did you guys receive an email from the office of admissions? The decision is coming out on the 13th at 3 pm ET!
@uni123456789 I got that email yesterday… hbu??
I got the email yesterday too.
Our decisions are going to be accessed through the portal, not through email right?
Yeah through the portal
I’m an international student so maybe we got it at the same time. Just wanted to make sure that someone else had received it.
@mediokra Exact same situation with me. My school is on a semester system and I have straight A’s throughout high school, but Princeton still requested my grades. Here’s hoping it’s a good sign!
@cmkornbluth @mediokra I mean I don’t see why they would ask for them if you had been outright rejected so I think its probably a good sign…hopefully.
Just saw your post now, I am going to be applying to a selection of the following schools:
- U of Chicago (maybe EDII, I dont know. Not my first choice, but I have my best shot of going to a good school at UoC)
- Brandeis
- Dartmouth
- Brown
- Yale
- William and Mary (but probably wont attend because poor financial aid)
- Haverford
- Colby (its free to apply and no supplemental, so why not?)
- Amherst
- Boston College
- Johns Hopkins
- Tufts
- UM Ann Arbor
- UNC Chapel Hill
- St. Andrews (UK)
- UW Madison (safety)
It is quite a list, so I’ll need to narrow it down unless I really want to pay out the nose for all the fees. I have my supplemental essays done for all but Johns Hopkins, UNC Chapel Hill, and St. Andrews – it has been a busy past few months lol.
18yearsaslav- I have a similarly long list. Applying to schools like Pton is very stressful, IMO. I’ve found that I’m well qualified for the affordable Ivy league and comparable schools, but of course, admissions is so unpredictable. That being said, while I’m sure I can get into the “next tier down” schools, these schools are often outrageously expensive— a “prestigious” academic haven for the rich. Is my assessment incorrect? What schools are exceptions to this rule? I’ll be scrambling to find somewhere to apply if Princeton doesn’t work on this Wed.
That does seem like a long list. Mine is somewhat shorter. I have:
Princeton University (obvi) *
University of Chicago *$
Yale University
Brown University
Vanderbilt University *
Northwestern University
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Richmond *$
Northeastern University *$
University of Georgia *
University of Alabama *
(* means I have already applied, $ means that the application was free.)
If I am accepted early to Princeton (fingers crossed), I am not applying anywhere else. Supplementals are pretty much finished, but hopefully won’t have to finish them! For others, are you planning on still applying elsewhere if you are accepted?
You guys think if they didn’t request my grades that that means I’ve been rejected? I’ve had grades of above 95 in high school and my semester grades are not out yet.
@Surp69 absolutely not! From our research, there were plenty of people who were accepted and were never asked for progress grades. Don’t sweat about it. We were mainly trying to figure out what it meant if they DID all for them.
Is the engineering essay part of the admissions process? Did it in a hurry…
@MapleSyrupYum Yes it is, but it’s probably less important than the other parts of the supplement
Great Album @nigerianfencer, one of my all time favs, I put To Pimp A Butterfly as my favorite recording, cool to see I wasn’t the only one that put a contemporary album.
@afh137 foreal i was like “i goning to put down what feels right” I didnt want to put down some intellectual lecture or something cliche
For my recording, I chose the album Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine. I kind of thought that if you did put down something like a lecture, they would see right through it.
@calculess Thanks for responding! My other essays are quite refined and sincere (some of my best works I believe), but since I was short on time, I now realize that my engineering essay sounds slightly pretentious and doesn’t show the true side of me at all. Hope that won’t ruin my chances :-/
