I'm kind of excited because it's fun to be with my friends and then go clubbing afterwards, but I'm kind of worried that I won't be able to bring my boyfriend because he's 21 and I'm not sure what my school's rules are concerning the ages of dates.

I brought someone that age to homecoming once, and it was maaaaybe not exactly in accordance with whatever age rules there are, but all you have to do is say that he goes to some other school, and it's not like they're going to ID the guy, lol. - Plus, there are several seniors at my school who are 20, so 21 isn't a stretch at all.

also, let's say you're a utilitarian and you want to maximize your pleasure, or good experiences etc. if you do not enjoy prom, and can find something better, why not do the thing that's better?

This.

and LOL @ eldoboy's immense faygetree. Damn...it seems everyone thinks that the only alternative to prom is staying up on dat CC scheiss.

I have in mind someone that I want to go with and I think I know the designer that I want to get my dress from. It's actually not that far away...hard to believe.

Promfor me is in like april or may i think
i am mostlikley going to go. its a fun night just to hang out with friends. people usually dont spend too long at the dance
we hang out at people's houses after going for a little bit

At our school freshman and sophs can't go to prom unless invited by a junior or senior...so probably not this year (I'm a soph)...but hey you never know.

This year's homecoming really ****ed me off. One of my friends was going with a girl from another school - and she had a friend that wanted to come but had nobody to go with, so they hooked me up with her friend (very good looking, and great personality).

So the night before homecoming comes around and I get a text from the girl I'm supposed to go with....she says that her parents wouldn't let her go because they didn't know who I was (btw, I'm a very trustworthy and responsible person)....and her best friend didn't want to go without her...so they didn't come....and me and my friend didn't have dates...all because of me...ya...that one really sucked

Nah I'm a cheap-ass. I don't plan on going. Definitely not worth the fortune it'd cost me.

Plus I can't think of anyone from my school I'd like to go with anyway.

LOL I've never been to a high-school dance before. I kept telling my friends "one of these days man I'm gonna go to a dance." lol never happened. Oh well, from what I hear I haven't missed out on much if anything. The word is that the dances are extremely lame.

I'm definitely going. I love dressing up in general- I hate jeans, I hate t-shirts, I normally go to everywhere (school, mall, grocery store, Walgreens) dressed very nicely. And I love dancing. I dance ballet about 12 hours a week, but I love club dancing too. I thought about not going since this is just junior prom. I could save (my parents') money for the dress and shoes and hair and everything. But the guy with whom I'll probably go (not a date, as friends. But he's fun and cute) will be thousands of miles away in his country next year, and won't be back until the year after that, when he'll be in New York. And my friend is a crazy dance/party girl so she would just beg me until I had to go.
Anyway, I bought a Gucci evening bag for homecoming this year, and I need an excuse to wear it again! I look so ridiculous carrying the tiny, delicate thing around to normal places.
