Proof of "Financial Resources" for international students

Hi all, I'm from Australia and my son is just accepted by Standford and we are very excited about that. Stanford is asking us to send a "Bank statements, with the amount listed in U.S. dollors" before the "Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Student Visa (I-20)" can be issued.

I'm sure Stanford is not expecting 4 years University expenses ($240K+) on the statement. What is the minimum acceptable balance of this "Bank statement"?

Thank you all in advance!

The COA is about 60k so I’d imagine 65-70k would suffice.

They want bank statements to ensure that an equivalent amount will have been regenerated by this time next year.

You will need to do the same at the US embassy.

:)

Thanks! How do I show them that the same amount will be generated the same time next year? Would tax return and payslips do? Thanks again!
