Ok, so I'm worried that I didn't challenge myself enough to the degree that Columbia expects. Here's my couresload from the last 4 years. Please tell me if this is adequate for a substantial school like Columbia or am I just wasting my time?

Freshman year: Honors Lit A, Honors history A Honors Algebra 2 A-, honors Spanish 1 A-, Bio A-, Journalism/history/choir electives A

Soph: Honors Lit A Honors History A Shonors panish II A- HONORS TRIG B, honors chem A-, journalism electives A

junior: Ap Lit A Ap history A-, honors physics A-, honors pre calculus A-, honors spanish III A, entrepreneurship/management electives A

senior: ap lit A, ap history A-, ap psychology A-, ap microeconomics A-, ap calculus ab B+, honors spanish 4 A

please tell me your honest opinion if you think i am columbia-level or good but not great enough

What's the problem here? They like four years of English, four years of math, four years of science, four years of social studies/history, and four years of a foreign language. You have a substantial amount of AP and honors courses. Did you take advantage of the most challenging classes offered to you? They'll check that, but it seems you did. You're fine.

Doesn't strike me as the most demanding schedule I've ever seen, but I have no idea what your high school offers. I'm also not sure how tough your school grades and the caliber of your competition, but your grades don't seem to indicate that you've really distinguished yourself as being at the very top of your school. Only someone who knows your school can really answer these questions.

I also don't get how you have two years of AP Lit and AP History.

I don't understand how two B's in his entire high school career makes him indistinguishable? Good grief.

There are four different AP Histories (World, U.S., Euro, Art), and as for the AP Lit thing, maybe he means he took AP Lang as well.

Do I look dumb? Usually AP Lit means AP Lit, not AP Lang. And usually people say AP US Hist or AP Euro.

There are way more A-'s than A's. The best students - those who are Ivy material - generally get mostly A's in the toughest course at their HS. Of course, this all depends on what his HS is like, as I mentioned above.

Exactly. It's not about how rigorous a courseload you take, it's about how rigorous a courseload you take compared to what your school has to offer. Were there AP's offered Freshman and Sophomore years that you didn't take?

It looks pretty solid, but there is a pretty noticeable trend of doing worse in AP classes. But as C02 said, it depends on how difficult those classes were. So if your school is known for having a difficult curriculum, it's understandable.

Just take the actual APs and get good results.

columbia 2002, i appreciate the brutal honesty
probably part of the reason for which i got deferred

in my school you can only take ap math soph/freshman year other than that only junior/senior year
and i meant ap lang my bad
i took ap ush junior year and ap euro senior year sorry for not specifying

i come from a very competitive school many students take 6-11 ap's in their HS career so im worried and i suck at math probably why im gonna be an English major

my HS has a pretty rigorous curriculum, not like some neglected inner city school (sorry to be politically incorrect) but yea c olumbia or an college will perceive it like i didnt challenge myself enough

thanks for the support tho :/
