Prospective University of Washington, Winter 2016 transfers?

look on the bright side…at least you didnt get a rejection letter sooner. I haven’t heard back yet either but I dont have much hope

@Seattlefc Well it seems like the last batch was 2 weeks ago and people have not received rejection letters so I’m assuming there is still another batch.

@JP1993 @jadey138 @Seattlefc @wintransfer2016 I called UW yesterday and they told me that “it’s nothing to be concerned about at all if you haven’t heard yet” not sure if I believe this but that’s what I was told. He also so said they send letters up to two weeks into December. Hope this help you guys/gals!

@wintransfer2016 @Seattlefc ah apparently this is the week most people hear back!

@dubsup Oh man no way I could wait until mid-december… I don’t know if I would accept it that late when my second choice is already offering me classes and what not

BUT it is true even though we havent heard back doesnt mean its over we are still being considered

@Seattlefc @dubsup @JP1993 thank you guys for the encouragement  still trying to hold onto hope :(( in the meantime would you guys mind chancing me? I know it’s kind of late but still… haha

Graduated w/ AA at in-state CC June 2015
CC GPA: ~3.4
UW GPA (took two LSJ classes over the summer): 3.6
Overall GPA I guess would be a 3.5 but not sure if they take this into consideration or each of them individually.
In my personal statement I talked about the short transition from CC to a UW classroom in the summer & how intimidating it was for me but soon learned the pace of a uni classroom, and how I received a rejection letter for the summer qtr which was what motivated me to take non-matric classes. Also talked about how I really had no idea what I wanted to do in college (hence the mediocre GPA), but as I took more classes I realized I had a passion for criminal justice and would really love to be a part of LSJ at UW. In my transcript you could see I didn’t do well the first two quarters but I gradually tried to maintain at least a 3.0 later on and mostly 4.0’d all my CJ classes.

Oh I also talked about how I am currently a volunteer at two places that would be relevant to the major if that helps…

@wintransfer2016 I think since you are coming from a CC in Washington and have a good GPA you should be good. Unlike me a four year out of state transfer :frowning:
Good Luck
do you have a back up school?

Thanks for your encouragement!! I feel better right now… you guys are so nice!
I’m from WA CC as well with GPA 3.89…still haven’t heard anything yet…(myabe because I was just rejected by Foster.

I really hope that they send email instead of postal mail because it really takes time to wait for it.

@Akeating I did, but I just handed my immunization records in to the guy at Schmitz Hall who said he would deliver it to Hall Health for me. Not sure if that counts, so I’m actually in the process of scanning the Med+Pass form and submitting it as I type lol
I dunno, UW was so late with notifying it’s understandable that it would take you awhile to get the records together.

I’ll see you at orientation!! I’ll be the crazy female asking incessantly about the math major

@ everyone who is still waiting… some of you guys have really strong applications, so I would be surprised if you were turned down. At the same time, it seems really wrong for UW to not have sent out all the acceptances when we’re a month away from the start of the quarter and orientations are starting in less than two weeks. If there is another wave, I bet it will be around Dec. 14 (or a couple days earlier) since that was the due date for submitting the NSEOF as listed on my packet

so the latest i should hear back from UW seattle is probably december 15 by the latest?

@wintransfer2016 I think you have a strong chance given your stats. Your GPA is slightly below the average admitted transfer GPA, but not by a whole lot. As we all know UW reviews apps holistically, so grades are not necessarily the main factor. Being in-state from a WA CC helps, but even among WA CC transfers only ~53% get admitted.

What I think is interesting is that so far on this thread, we haven’t heard of any rejections, only acceptances IIRC. Surely some people out there have received rejections from UW? Anyone heard of a rejection from UW yet?

@snailshellz I feel like I’m going to be the first rejection letter haha fml.

But no, I noticed that too - haven’t heard of any rejection letters from the Campus, just Fosters.

Thanks your guys encouragement. QAQQQ

@dubsup
What major did you apply for?
I have checked for my unofficial transcript for 1000 times everyday but it keeps showing 500 errors that totally blows up my mind QAQ

Hi, all! For those of you who’ve been accepted and you’ll be attending, who’s going to be living on campus? I’ve got myself freaked out over the fact that it’s harder to make friends going in as a transfer student during winter quarter! I suppose it won’t be as hard for me as others given even though I’m a junior, I’m 18 cuz I did running start so I’m the same age as most freshman…

@megandlr I’ll be living off-campus and commuting. Sounds like you will be living in a dorm? I wanted a dorm but decided against it since it’s pricey and I don’t get financial aid :frowning:

If you’re from WA, don’t you already know some folks at UW? I’m not that worried about making friends since I know at least a handful of people. I have heard that it’s tough for everyone to make friends at UW unless you’re doing Greek life.

@snailshellz True! Submitting it today and requested my transcript to be sent again after this quarter so I should be set now!

@megandlr I am! Did you apply for housing already?

@snailshellz I will be in a dorm. I’m getting to do that cuz I’m using the GI Bill… I’m not from WA, but was here for most of high school. However, I didn’t like my high school at all and did Running Start at a community college which also makes it difficult to make friends when everyone is commuting. Everyone wants to get in, get their 2 year and get out. I was kind of a loner. I’m not terribly introverted, but just a little worried about it.

Hi guys!
I’ve been following and reading you guys’ discussions for awhile now. haha
I just have a question…
Long story short, I applied to both UW Tacoma and UW Seattle. My transcript loaded for both places in UW Tacoma and Seattle, but only “UW Tacoma” shows up in the transcript box with the student ID and my major. Does that mean my transcript loaded for only UW T for now? How will I know when UW Seattle’s transcript loaded? Does it have to say “UW Seattle” under College?
Please help. :frowning:

@Akeating I did apply! Stupid me, I totally submitted it though before looking for a roommate. We’ll see who I get! Are you male or female? Haha sounds weird but if you’re female we could possibly be put together…
