You need to ask your GC. Even those who will make NMSF get the letter now because the cutoffs haven’t been announced yet…

Your GC needs to check to see if there is some error. My son had an error on his paperwork…he had accidentally indicated that he was a part-time student (which would have disqualified him). The GC called NMCorp and fixed that.

Are you a citizen or legal resident? I don’t think int’ls can be in the competition.

Every qualified student who has a score that meets or exceeds the Commended score cutoff gets a letter (even those who are likely NMSF).

However, no one is notified that they have been named a SF at this point.

However, those who are likely SF’s will also get letters because at this point, because they are at the Commended level (until cutoffs at established and SF is named).

So, if you have - say - a 235 score - you should get a letter now, but you won’t get your NMSF notification until Aug/Sept.

Everyone gets letters dated April 13, 2010 if they are at our above the National Commended level. Your school might be slow. If you scored over a 201-202 or whatever for sure it is this year, you will/should get one. If you don’t get one by mid-May and your school is clueless, call the National Merit people.

*I still haven’t received a letter, how sure are people that semi-finalists should be getting them now?

Semi-finalists do NOT get letters now.

I just wanted to point out that this is a tad misleading *

jgraider…I clarified that already. At this point, no one is a semi-finalist. All that meet or exceed 201 are Commended right now. Once state cutoffs are determined, then NMSFs will be notified in Aug/Sept

Letters were sent out April 13th for those that will be at least commended for the class of 2011. I got a 206 and my counselor gave mine to me on Thursday–so I think it’s sent to your school first or something.

^ Nope, you’ll have to wait until next year.

I got 230 and I still haven’t gotten a letter. I live overseas, but I don’t think it would take more than a week for the letter to get to school. Emailing my GC now…
