PSAT/SAT scores??

^
Surprisingly, I've seen that happend OFTEN. Yes, its wierd, but I've seen a case go from a 206 in soph to a 176 in Junior year. These things...you can never really tell, since that person studied for them too.

Who knows, sometimes things just happen.

I got selection index of 213 as a sophomore (67 Verbal, 76 Math, 70 Writing). Had I got that 1 stupid mistake on a math question right, I would have made NMS scores for WA My verbal actually DECREASED from my 9th grade verbal score...ouch.. I guess it's the fictional reading passages that were introduced with the new SAT (and the removal of the analogies which helped me).

sentient89 he might not even get commended it hovers around 200 but i think last year was 201

Wow I feel really dumb. I only got a 178 index score (around 80%). I didn't prep though, but I think I should get an SAT tutor (for vocab). The classes here cost WAY too much...

got a 191 PSAT...need a 225min to get my car-my parents suck lol. i need a tutor too, ebony, but be careful who u get- half of them have no idea what they'r talkin about...

Lol, my parents are trying to get me to do driver's ed by using summer programs as a stimulus.

I've seen people post here that they got National Hispanic with a 180.
For National Achievement (the merit program for black students), the cutoff is about 190.

sophmore year I got a 178 on the PSAT(1240) this year I got a 193 (1310) and a 1320 on the SAT......but my friends score dropped 7 points from last year from a 192 to a 185

I'm pretty worried, I feel that I just winged the test - guessed on about half of the verbal :), so I really don't understand how I got my score. I think that being less nervous during these tests really does help, I was totally relaxed about the test. Next year I'm going to spaz out at the last minute lol.

Soph PSAT: 195
Junior PSAT: 217
SAT I + SAT II Writing: 2370

improvement is possible :)

i dont really remember my PSAT scores but i know i improved by at least 20+ points (from my freshman year to my sophmore year.)
however, on my ACT i got a 28 as a freshman and a 34 as a sophmore. :-)

can u have a 400+ jump with practice

I had a 194 when i took the psat this year (soph)...Its funny though....I had gotten everything on the math section save for one "easy" question but i got marked as omitting the last two questions. In my test booklet i had the right answers and im prettty sure i had them on the answer sheet...My advisor was upset when he saw this, but he was sure i hadnt written in the answers.
My prob is the damn reading Comp...i just dont like it.. I wish the analogies were still there.... I've heard that people improve the most in the reading section so....
Im hoping to get 80 on the math and 70s on the reading and writing...

sophomore year i had a 213 (78 verbal, 72 math, 68 writing) and junior year i had a 236 (80 verbal 76 math 80 writing). the math section i think is not very indicative of sats, just because the curve is brutal (1 wrong is a 76)

i think if you are good at math, and watch for stupid mistakes...you can easily ace the math.

yeah, its really freakin easy to ace the math section, I got almost a perfect this year, the math is basically just geometry and below, there is almost no algebra 2 involved.

Hispanic sofomoro: 184 (55 reading 70 math 59 writing) I am shooting for >220 next year. Any ideas how to prepare?

take practice tests... ALOT of them

take a princetonreview course if u have the time AND moeny (do it over the summer, best results then IMO)

220 is more than possible... i think my score was lower than urs in sophmore year and i ended up with a 219...

I barely improved. Went from 216 sophmore year to a 223. Hopefully I can acutally make some improvement before tha actual SAT's.

Its definately possible to improve dramatically, though. I have a friend who got a 181 sophmore year and ended up scoring a 1600 SAT. just be sure to do some practice.

did a LOT of studying for my junior PSAT in the weeks leading up to it, for no real practical reasons, but because i was bored and anxious to get into the standardized testing. what a loser i am.

sophomore: 204
junior: 232
