D got 222. 69 CR 75 M 78 W. in California. hope she can maintain similar score for Jr yr

CR 61 (94th percentile)
M 66 (97th percentile)
W 68 (99th percentile)

total 195

yeah I want NMS too…PA’s cutoff is pretty high though :/

CR 70(99%)
M 61(93%)
W 65(98%)

Total: 196

The SAT is harder than the PSAT since it’s longer and the Math is also a bit harder on the SAT.

CR - 63
M - 70
W - 63

I think PSAT scores in general are lower than SAT scores because most people take it cold, where people spend hours upon hours studying for the SAT.

Yay, rising juniors!

Sophomore PSAT: (highest so far in this thread!)

Total: 226 (99)
CR: 71 (99)
M: 80 (99)
W: 75 (99)

Sophomore SATs:

January 2010: (no prep)

Total: 2170 (98) (lower than my PSAT score)
CR: 730 (97)
M: 770 (98)
W: 670 (93) (I blame my small essay handwriting…)

May 2010: (did around two or three weeks of prep)

Total: 2360 (99+)
CR: 790 (99)
M: 800 (99)
W: 770 (99)

So in conclusion, essay fail + no prep = lower SAT than PSAT.

(I’m actually slightly worried I won’t make NMS, since I’m in CA and might be out of practice by October or November…)

EDIT: SAT composite score percentiles taken from 2009 college-bound seniors; see [here (PDF)](http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat_percentile_ranks_composite_cr_m_w.pdf).

2009 PSAT (as a sophomore):
60 in Critical Reading
59 in Math
64 in Writing Skills
They’re all in the high or low 90’s in terms of percentile… but they don’t sound like great scores. The projected SAT scores didn’t seem good enough either. What do you think?

quote

Are you kidding? You’re in amazing shape!

My scores:
(From 2009, without any studying, and as a sophomore)

Selection Index - 208 (98)

Math - 60 (91)
Critical Reading - 68 (98)
Writing - 80 (99)

w00t on writing, but I need to get better at mathematics…
I’m in Montana, so hopefully raising up my math and reading scores will help with NMS…
Although, the qualifying score was 204 in Montana for 2010, so hopefully I don’t lose any!

PacaMed - I am also in an ACT area. PSAT was implemented this year for the first time. They only gave it to the 25 top juniors and five sophmores. My d was one of those sophs. If the school had not implemented the PSAT, my d would have had to take the test at a different high school or on a university campus. Both are an hour away.

As soon as school starts again, or even now if she is there, talk to your guidance counselor and see if there is anyway for the PSAT to be given at your school. If not, you will need to find another school that offers it and take it there. You can’t sign up online. Arrange for it as early as possible.

I’m taking it on Wednesday. Who’s nervous?

Nervous like crazy!
I have to score higher than I’ve ever scored before in order to make SF >___<

80 CR
68 W
68 M

Stupid mistakes and the curve got me…

im gonna die.
i need to being it up at least 7 points to get a 220, and i wouldn’t doubt it if my score dropped.
i know so many people who scored high as sophomores and got a lower score as juniors.
ahh

Taking it tomorrow morning as a sophomore.
My PSAT grade as a freshman sucked balls low 60’s and high 50’s.
I hope I can raise my score at least 20 points.

Wikizilla, how do you get 80s on the CR? what are your tips for it?

grr. My writing and math are at or above 72 right now, but my CR is so bad.

Waiting for scores…arghhhh!

anyone know when we get the scores?

^Depends on your school. Some people will get them before Thanksgiving, others will be waiting until January.
