will i receive these scores in the mail or at school? If it’s at school, I really hope I get them tomorrow even though I’m expecting a max of like 180 lol.

Still no PSAT, though I got a letter from TASP. Fingers crossed…

Incidentally, what’s the minimum PSAT score of people who get letters from TASP?

^^Don’t know, but S, at 209, the cut-off for the current year in AZ, got one.

Got my results back today, managed to get a 192! 58 CR, 69 M (thought that would be higher…), 65 W. Not great, but I’m happy with it (: Hoping I can get my SAT score over 2000. I have about a month to prep!

@Idnehzagup Got mine today (235). Here’s hoping that yours is a sign of good scores to come! :)

got it today:

64 CR
76 M
67 W

207 total (epic fail, i know)

on a separate note, what do you predict the cutoff for UT 2012 will be?

R- 80
M- 76
W- 80

Wow… Better than I ever expected!! o.O

223
80 Math
72 Critical Reading
71 Writing
I did 0 prep so i hope i can do better

Someone at my school got a 240 as well.

I’m assuming 222 is safe for CA right? Last year’s cutoff was 219.

What was last year’s ny cutoff?

NY’s cutoff for 2011 was 217.

@JennyChin Haha I’m repling to your other post but yeah, I’m applying to TASP and I got my postcard today.

@Idnehzagup They say top 3-4 thousand scores so I’m thinking at least a 230? I got a 235, so hopefully that means you did pretty well.

CR 80
M 80
W 71

Total: 231

Where can I find past semifinalist qualifying scores for each individual state? (Or can someone tell me VA’s? :))

Edit: nvm I found them

80-76-69, 225 in Hawaii.

If I had just remembered that the problem asked for 3w, not just w, it would have been 80-80-69.

I think it’s safe to say I made the cut-off. I’ll be our school’s first semifinalist in…ever. I think the best we had was a commended student last year. Oh well. I’m happy with my score. (:

I got 210 and I’m living in Idaho…
The cutoffs from previous 4 years are…
204(2008), 208(2009), 209(2010), 208(2011), ???(2012)

Did I make it (whats the probability that I make it) ??? (bear in mind ID isn’t like the non-populous Alaska, which has a very fluctuating curve) (scared about the 4+ jump in 2008 and 2009)…

In Maryland, what was the cutoff exactly? I looked at the list and saw that it was 220. However, a teacher of mine who has a lot of experience with PSAT scores said that the cutoff is usually between 217-219 and the highest the cutoff has ever been was a 220. But I looked back at Maryland’s cutoffs and they seem to go from 221-220.
Class of 08 (221)
Class of 09 (220)
Class of 10 (221)
Class of 11 (220)
Would the cutoff follow this pattern for the class of 2012?

naya1x - a 231 will be NMSF in any state.

I live in Puerto Rico and still haven’t received my scores!!! Does anyone know when I should expect them??

224 in Jersey.

80 CR
69 M
75 W

2 stupid questions wrong on Writing. I’ve been through 4 or 5 SAT practice tests (in the blue College Board book) and I’ve done perfectly on those. I understand the Writing section is dominated by the essay, and sort of a moot point anyways, but I write well and am hoping to do better, if not nigh-perfectly, on the actual SAT Writing section. In any case, the math score definitely needs to come up. Sadly, it’s geometry that has been my greatest weakness. Guess I’ve gotta hire a tutor In any case, I’m fairly sure I made the Semifinalist cutoff for New Jersey, barring any large jump in the 219-221 cutoff point that has been established in the last few years.

I know it won’t be a long while until these letters come, but how exactly do they weed out the Finalist from the Semifinalists?

Congrats to everybody on jobs well done!

^Semifinalists are distinguished by the cutoff. Once the Semifinalists are established, then the Finalists are decided through a process. The Finalists must take the SAT and score above the designated cutoff level (around 1960). Also, they must write an essay and have letters of recommendation, among other things. 94% of Semifinalists make it to Finalist standing. The only reason I can see that a person wouldn’t make the cut is if they didn’t make the SAT cutoff, didn’t write the essay, got in trouble at school, or didn’t send everything in on time.

It’ll be a long wait until September for me. I’ll definitely be Commended, but in a state where the cutoff has hovered between 211-213, a score of 212 is iffy. I’m so scared. But then again, I never expected to even get that score, which is why I didn’t study (mad at myself) Oh, and my weakness is math, too! (76 CR, 75 W, 61 M)

Congrats to everyone! Only 50k or so are chosen to be Commended or to advance further in the NMSC, but it seems like half of them are on CC’s boards! :)
