I was wondering how accurate of an indicator PSAT scores were of SAT scores. I just got my scores from the 2013 PSAT and I got a 232 composite. What SAT score can I expect on my January 2014 SAT?

around the same, maybe 20-40 pts below or over

Thanks for replying, but are you speaking in regards to SAT or PSAT scores being 20-40 points above or below?

It should be in the same range, i would say expect a 2200-2400

Interesting. I’d be really happy with a 2200+ score. I’ve been so discouraged lately, reading posts saying that the PSAT is much easier than the actual SAT. Does anybody have any idea how to improve critical reading, though? It’s my only weakness and it’s the only thing that’s bringing down my score.

Well, it’s clearly not bringing your score down much! Go get the blue book, do a bunch of practice and then go take the SAT. You’ll find that it is NOT much harder.

In theory, PSAT score x 10 = expected SAT score… But, at the top end (which is where you are), it is more difficult just because margin of error is so small. Continue your prep work and do your best. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I guess all I can do at this point is to do some more vocab and review the reading sections and hope for the best!

dont forget about the essay!

For reference, I got a 210 on the PSAT and a 2200 on the SAT. I got a 191 on the PSAT sophomore year.

I took the 210 PSAT in October of this year and the SAT about one month later. Just do a lot of practice, but don’t get upset if your score on the SAT is lower than 2320. As someone else said, it’s a really small margin of error so you could easily drop a little bit even if you study a lot.
