happy happy

whoever's accepted....if you decide to matriculate, would you choose the 6 year or 7 year option?

I personally am prolly gonna choose 6 year if i do end up at psu.

6 yearRR
fdjkkd

ahhh i got in and i will definitely choose 6 year....thats a major component of why i picked this program...6 year option and great medical school...plus all the football games :-)

YES!! I got in today and have been waiting for the servers to come back so I could post this on CC.

I'm honestly considering the seven year option...I want to have this summer off, and saving as many years as possible isn't that important to me, it's more about the medical school guarantee. But then again, I don't want to be the only one left spending an extra year...lol

i'm thinking that there's prolly gonna be a 2 to 1 ratio of 6 yrs to 7 yrs...so dun worry darth raid3r, there'll be plenty of ppl doin' 7 years anyway...

for me, 6 years is better b/c, though the summer is a big turnoff, the classes are mad easy and you'll have extra time gettin' to know all of yer fellow colleagues...and for me, psu is only like 4-5 hrs away by car, so i'll prolly be able to visit home often too...and the other thing is that if you start as a 6 year, you can switch to 7 year if you want, however, if you start as a 7 year, you can't go to the 6 year program.

I'm in too!

I'm about the same distance as you, PHTofu, and I'm also considering 6 year for the same reason, although I'm not sure yet

Yeah I'm probably going to end up starting as a 6-year. I'll save one year tuition and get to meet everybody during the summer, which is supposed to be pretty fun, and can always extend if I feel rushed.

Btw, does anybody know about the program weekend...like shedoesntgetit said, there's nothing in the acceptance packet. getonthedtrain said it's April 13-15th a couple pages back.

i think i'll call tomrorow....i kind of want to see everyone at the same day so maybe i'll recognize peopel from interview day/see who i might be int he program with

excitingg ahhfafd

Just a random thought, I wouldn't suggest doing the seven year thing just because it looks like coming in the summer will suck. Because it most certainly did not. Nice, warm weather, and lots of free time because classes were relatively easy, so you can get to know people and do all sorts of stuff. Also, taking speech in the summer is much easier, apparently. And a lot of other reasons too, I'm sure.

yeah, and there's gonna be like concerts, games, and what not...i guess it'll be a headstart on the college experience for the 6 years...man, i really hope i enroll here, i'm pumped.

congratz to everyone ... can you guys put up your stats thanks = ]

Have monitored the board for my son who was accepted and has an older sibling in the program now at Jeff. Based on our experience, the six year program and the requirement to start during the second summer session was an extremely WISE decision on the part of PSU.

The summer session is only six weeks long (8 weeks for some of the science courses) and is an extremely low key way experience PSU. My son took two courses which allowed him to ease into the college academic experience without alot of pressure, meet many new friends including most of the progs, and become comfortable with the campus. When his HS friends moved into East Halls for freshman orientation in Aug/Sept including SHC students, they were overwhelmed by comparison.

Also because the summer session is low key and not a full course load, it allows prog students the opportunity to earn a high GPA which helps them keep the minimum GPA requirement despite the difficult science course load throughout the regular semesters. The oldest did NOT have to take the summer session between freshman/sophomore year because of AP credits and neither will his younger sibling.

Oldest really enjoyed the summer after high school so much, he's gone back for Artfest last summer and will probably go back again if schedules permit.

SO don't let a 6 week summer session keep you from turning a 4 semester program into a 6 semester program!.
