Hey, I'm someone from the program, and I don't actually use CC at all...this is my dad's screen name, and when I saw you guys asking questions I felt like someone should answer them.

You did not receive anything about Prog Weekend, but you will sometime by the end of this week. We mail out a separate letter afterwards, and I just saw it yesterday, and it was supposed to be mailed out today. It will be the weekend of April 13-15.

So there's a lot of discussion about being a 6 year or a 7 year, and I can shed some light on that, because I am a seven year. The ratio of 6 years to 7 years is usually not 2:1 as I read. It's more like 4:1. But don't let that discourage you. For some of us, the seven year option is really good, because it gives us opportunities to study abroad, relax a little bit, etc. The fact is (and I'm only saying this because a six year is looking over my shoulder and yelling at me), there are pros and cons to both sides.

Here's the basic thing: come to Prog Weekend, and you will learn a lot. If you don't come, feel free to call any of us when you get the letter that invites you to Prog Weekend. There will be six names on the bottom of that letter, and mine is Rahul Kamat, if you're really interested in calling me. Or call someone else.

Congrats to all of you.

thanks for answering all the questions

hey everyone, i just joined CC because ive also been accepted and i wanna know more about the program. so far im leaning towards PSU babyyy and doing the 6 year path...who else for sure is going to go next year??

hey guys... I am new to this forum and I am listing my stats so if I need to improve in anything I can easily do so since I am still a junior... so please give me some tips
SAT I: 2040
ACT: 29
3 out of 600+ students
7 AP classes this and next year combined

lots of clubs... will volunteer at a local hospital this summer

Leadership:

Reporter for HOSA next year
Board member of International club this year and VP next year

Please let me know if my situation is hopeless so I can switch gears

thanx

can someone please list all the colleges that offer a 6yr medical program?

Northeastern colleges of Ohio

PSU program

UMKC

...there may be a few more

monica....the thing is that yer sat/act needs alotta work...1450 is the CUTOFF....if you look back at last years forum, funkmasta had everything goin' but he got automatically rejected because he had a 1440 instead of the minimum 1450...also, medically related ec's are VERY important...if you only start to volunteer at yer hospital this summer, its as good as if you never did it in the first place.......it'll be extremely tough for you to get an interview, i'm not gonna lie, but its definitely not impossible....but the SAT/ACT has to, i repeat, has to go up.

thanks for the post shedoesntgetit and PipingHotTofu

are we staying overnight? id idnt get the letter yet

yeap its an overnight stay

Hey guys,

I need some advice. Which one would you pick and why? Its between Boston University 7 year and Penn State 6 year programs.

i would say BU med school is def more prestigious, tons of resources in boston in terms of education and hospitals, penn state is prbly fun for undergrad since its big 10, boston's undergrad and med campuses are also beautiful however, i would have to say boston on that one, but its definitely an arguable point

well depends...like acemaster said, boston's got some good points, but its definitely more difficult and is 7 yrs...and who says jefferson doesn't have a great campus either? Boston is...well, Boston. Amazing city, but i think that you'd have a great time at both places regardless...in terms of prestige, id've thought jefferson and bu med were on the same plane...boston i think is the better undergrad, but i mean, psu progs aren't gonna be at a disadvantage when it comes to academics...

...basically, to me, it boils down to going to a big ten school, 6 year program, nice campus, kind of difficult but laid back VS. d2 school, 7 year program, harder requirements, beautiful campus.

Not sure where BU med and jefferson rank, but again, i'm thinking they're pretty much equal...if somebody can get teh ranks or somethin...

(not like i have a choice, i was rejected by bu's program but i got in undergrad)

do we stay overnight friday night or saturday...??

im going on spring break...so im prolly gonna arrive saturday morning

we can stay overnite both days

BU is between 20-30 depending on the list and jefferson is like 50-60, but ya the ranking lists are based on some criteria that dont necessarily make one noticeably better than the other, they are both wonderful med schools i just think boston has the slight edge in terms of the campus, surrouding area, research facilities, and hospitals

In terms of staying overnight, you can come any time during that weekend and we will accomodate you, but it would be really nice if you could come to the informational meeting saturday morning. That meeting is really useful, but if you aren't going to be there saturday morning, we can always fill you in whenever you do get here.

So bhangraboy, if you do visit, saturday morning is a great day to come.

By now you all should have recieved a letter about prog weekend, and we will soon be calling all of you, so don't stress. Everything manages to work itself out in the end...
