Is science research considered a non-academic activity?

I still wish someone could also tell how many students entering the 6-year or the 7-year program could not matriculate at Jefferson because of too low GPA or because of too low MCAT.

Will JoePa knock off Sparty this Saturday?

Every year, maybe a few students “go under”, which means that their GPA falls and they run the risk of having to leave the program. But usually they manage to get their grades back together. However, there may be one student who doesn’t and cannot matriculate. But this doesn’t happen every year.

Most people in the program sail by more or less smoothly.

And then there’s always the 7-year option, which, of course, means …

ONE MORE YEAR OF PATERNOVILLE !!!

did anyone apply this year? if u did, have u been accepted to PSU yet? i applied back in November and still have not been accepted.

when should you hear back if you have already applied?

hi,
I’ve also been waiting to hear back from penn state. I feel like in the past years, this thread has been so alive, while this year there’s no one.

thats how i feel. not only this thread, but this whole forum is dead.

i applied to the program late october and still haven’t received my penn state decision. Oddly enough, contrary to previous years, I received an email a couple days ago saying that i was selected for an interview on feb 10, asking me to confirm within a week. so i confirmed…

weird thing is that in previous years, most people have gotten their interview statuses in late january for early february interviews.

whatever, im not complaining!!!

Crap, I still haven’t received any news yet.

well, like i said, i think the vast majority of the interviews are sent in January. there’s a slight chance that they’re super organized and want to send interviews out early…but i doubt it. i got mine through email - haven’t gotten the letter through snail mail yet.

anyway, im really nervous now cause this program is my top choice and now i have to worry for about a month and a half until interview time and then for another month and a half until we find out our decisions!!!

Does any1 know how many people apply per year or how many applied this year? That would be helpful. I haven’t received my interview thing yet either…i’m nervous.

i believe it is somewhere around 850 applicants, 100 interviews, and 50 accepted (30 or so matriculate)

good luck with the program! psu is a good school and jefferson is in a nice area. i interviewed 2 years ago (i think i got the invite over winter break so it should be soon). the med students seemed happy (majority are indians lol).

i had one student interview (very informal) and one faculty interview. it was whatever. didnt get in.

JoePa vs. Les Miles!
Capital One Bowl
Orlando, Fla
1 pm EST

Give me a break! The name of the game right now is JoePa beating Les Miles!

After Jan 1, then you can start worrying about whether you get to be in the giant corral of PSU-Jeff Prog hopefuls on Interview Day. And if invited, also worry about whether you get a faculty interview with somebody who actually cares about interviewing you (or are you just wasting their precious time?) As my good Bruin buddy zzzboy states, it probably doesn’t hurt to be of Indian ethnicity, either.

You don’t get invited until late Jan.
Interview day isn’t until mid Feb.

Meanwhile, it’s JoePa vs. Les Miles, Jan 1!!!

Lifebubble -

When asked they mentioned that the numbers are no different than students who do not make it in medical school when they enter the normal way after undergraduate and work experience…

fianchetto - login to Penn state and check your application status. I dont think I got an email from them. With regards to Jefferson, last year I heard at the end of January so there is still time.

just got a letter in the mail saying they’ve received my application
i submitted like a month ago…
anyway, nothing in it about an interview, and nothing online either

In case you didn’t get a chance to watch, JoePa beat Les Miles 19-17.

Penn State was ahead for most of the game, and LSU temporarily came back and went ahead, but Penn State hit a last minute field goal to give yet another win (and another bowl win) to Penn State and the legendary JoePa!

The Capital One Bowl! What’s in your wallet?
