Hey are there any current student on here that can answer some questions??

I was wondering about the quality of the dorms, I caught a glimpse of them in some tours but that was it really, and how's the food and social life??

bump.........

I've only seen the dorms in Cromwell from visiting my friend and they seem pretty standard..very small, but most of the girls had bunk beds so it made a little more space. In Cromwell they have "suites" where three rooms share a bathroom, but I know the other dorms are different.

I ate in Eickhoff Hall and the food was pretty good! They have a very wide selection for all three meals and they also have a convenience store.

I'm not sure about the social life - they have events and such, but I know a lot of the students go home on the weekends.

A lot of students go home on the weekends? What fun is that?

haha I know - it seems like everyone wants that college experience, but they still end up going home! I can't really speak for anyone, but I know my friend and most of her suite mates went home every weekend. I think it's just because most of the students live pretty close by.

One girl I met only lived five minutes away from the campus, but still got a dorm and was never there..I thought that was so unfair because people get stuck on waiting lists for those rooms.

That is the risk when 95% of student body is in state and nearly anywhere in the entire state is a 90 minute drive at the most from campus.I know TCNJ is desperate to diversify geographically.

Has anyone heard what the Travers/Wolfe dorms are like? That's where I'd hope to end up if i wound up in TCNJ cause i heard they're the best for freshmen

Travers/Wolfe are very standard.. I think there are pictures on the tcnj website. I went on a tour at the school and we got to look at Travers I believe - pretty small rooms and I think each floor shares a large bathroom. If I'm not mistaken, they are both reserved for freshman students..I went on the tour last spring so it's hard to remember! haha

actually, most students don’t go home on the weekends.

May I ask a question? How hard is it to get to Philadelphia via public transportation from TCNJ?

Im pretty sure there’s a train near TCNJ that goes directly there, you might want to find a student and ask em tho!

I’m not too sure about the transportation but I do remember a student saying last year that they sometimes had busses…the Travers/Wolfe rooms are very standard and small but then again what do you expect at a college? I thought they were average…each room had a small sink in it which is supposed to be a “perk” (I guess it could be handy) and ther’s a dining hall attached between the two towers

You will probably be put in Traver/Wolfe. The first floor of Cromwell is the freshman honors floor, and the top is the transfer floor. The rest of the dorm is spillover freshman. The atmosphere in Cromwell is different from the towers (Travers/Wolfe). Cromwell is much quieter. Although a lot of kids go home on the weekends, there will always be people in the towers, on all the floors. Don’t be worried. Also, a lot of people meet lifelong friends on their floors in the towers.

You will be housed by the FSP you choose, this way you will be living with the same people you have one class with. You won’t necessarily be roommates with someone in your FSP, but they will all be on you floor. There are about four FSP’s mixed on each floor.

Getting to Philly from school can be done, but is awful. You need to take the bus from school, to the Trenton train station. From there you can take a train to 30th street station. Then take the Septa.

Getting to New York is easier, IMO. You take the bus to Hamilton train station, and hop on a train, and are in the city in 80 mins.

I am from a town next to Ewing, and have never taken public transportation to Philly. I’d drive a friend into the city, before letting them take the trains.

Does anyone know can you request to be roomed with another freshman you know or is that frowned upon by the school?
