ACCEPTED!! <3 good luck to everyone in the match and to those who didn’t make it, I know you worked real hard on your apps so I’m sure you’ll get where you want to be through RD! And the application won’t be binding then either!
I didn’t make it But its okay I guess. I will just start working on early decision applications. Good luck and congratulations to everyone who made it! For those who aren’t finalists, why do you think that’s so?
Sigh of relief. Son accepted. gwbush you must feel so frustrated. I am sorry to hear. #158 was well-said. This is just one bump in the road. In six months, when you have acceptances, this will just be a memory. Stay positive!
Hey guys, I got accepted!!! 28 GPA, 3.89 W gpa…cannot believe it! Congrats to everyone else…and to those who didn’t, don’t worry…im sure the fact that you’re interested enough to be reading these discussions show you can go far and you’re determined to do it. God bless!
Thanks everyone for the kind words! This definitely has me doubting myself quite a bit but nothing I can really do but continue working on my early apps
@greekguy1273 my income is well below the threshold
Does anyone know if there are stats for finalist acceptance? The questbridge website isn’t working for me rn
@gwbush I hadn’t checked mine yet, but whatever my decision is, I got a plan B and C. After visiting some schools, F&M College, Davidson, Whitman (soon), Denison (soon), I might apply early action or early decision if I don’t get accepted. Additionally, there are national scholarship programs and programs with collleges/universities. For example, I will apply the the Daniels Fund (only for WY, CO, UT(?), and NM (?) residents) or the Horatio Algiers Scholarship, which has a national and state level competition.
I am a finalist. I’m not sure if this is a good time for self-evaluations, but I had astoundingly weak extra-curriculars (read: virtually none) and was accepted nevertheless. Because of the holistic application process, it’s hard to pin down exactly why one might have received the status they did; expectations can always be subverted, for better or worse. I wouldn’t advise anyone to refrain from applying solely because they don’t think they have the qualifications; at the same time, no one should believe that they have it “in the bag” lest they fall victim to disappointment. Congratulations to everyone who endured the laborious application process regardless of their result!
I’m a finalist!!! I’m so surprised, I didn’t think I had what it took!
Congratulations to everyone else that made it
Fellow non-finalists, please contact me so we can talk about how to proceed and help each other through the rest of the college process.
Omg, I’m a finalist!!!
15,606 applied, 5,759 were finalists
Dirt poor and good grades. I got rejected What the hell are even scholarships meant for if good students get rejected.
it makes me even more sad that 30% got accepted.
Congratulations to all the finalist and best of luck to every senior right now. Do not let this taint your confidence because I have hope that all of you WILL get into a school that will give you happiness and success. I am so grateful that Questbridge allowed me to be to have this opportunity. I just want to tell all of you that don’t be discouraged by your scores or extracurricular or lack of awards. I didn’t do anything outstanding, but I really showed myself through my essays and short answers. Mind you, for my historical figure I wrote about wanting to meet the Zodiac Killer despite my counselors advising me to not. Just really let your voice shine because every one of you is special and deserving of all things good. Don’t fret about impressing the colleges that much. Let them know that you have character, that you are not a robot who generates numbers; you are WAY more than that. Thanks for reading this and BEST OF LUCK!!!
@kchen0514 I have a backup too, but that doesn’t mean this wasn’t a total blow to confidence or a really crappy outcome
I just got off work… I was accepted! Okay GPA, Low test score, AMAZING EC’s, many National Awards.
Accepted. Unconventional student so…
Rejected. I was expecting that––my income bracket, while low, doesn’t scream QuestBridge finalist. I’ll rest easy knowing that the money went to somebody who needed it more (I’ve got scholarships under my belt to help me already).
@celbauasch Trust me, it’s not just about stats. There are people on other sites with 30 ACTs and 3.6 GPAs who got in, and a girl at my school has a higher class rank than me and is part of Student Government and got rejected while I got accepted. I feel like essays really matter in this instance. (I don’t know what your essays looked like, but) You’re going to be fine. You’ll still get generous financial aid from the elite schools as long as you get in, and if you have high grades and scores and impressive ECs, you have a shot. Please don’t lose hope.
