I was accepted to Syracuse and i'm still waiting admissions decisions from BC, NYU and Cornell. However Syracuse was my back up school and they want me to make my admissions decision by may 1, meaning i would have to pay a non refundable deposit for tuition and dorming. What happens if i dont hear back from the other colleges by may 1 so I can make a decision?

Currently i'm attending a community college that means i have no where to go next year if i dont reply to Syracuse by may 1 and worst case i dont get accepted to any other school.

The only way you won’t know from the others is if you have been waitlisted. If that happens, pay the deposits at Syracuse. If after May 1 someone else admits you then you have a decision to make.

You can request the other schools to give your decision early. I have seen a number of people in CC who have done that.

I think what you should do is let Syracuse know that you’re still awaiting replies from other schools.

If you call schools like BC, NYU and Cornell now, they’ll be pretty annoyed because they’re still in the middle of sorting & beginning reviews.

yea thats what I’m going to do on monday. Had to finish up exams at my current school so lets see how that works out. i’m just worried if i do end up going to syracuse i might not have a dorm to stay in because I payed the deposit late. Anyone ever been in this kind of situation before while transfering?

It happens a lot, the timing of transfer decisions is not synchronized like it is for fr admissions. Just one more of the Joys of Transferring.

sounds like a pain in the a**

I have that issue right now, kinda

except I just got accepted into my last-choice school & their reply date is May 1st while all the other colleges I applied to aren’t replying about decisions until like mid may

Same thing here. I am a music major transferring. I have been accepted to three of the four schools I’ve applied. I am waiting on my first choice, USC. They won’t let me know until June 1st, but the others want an answer May 1st. I guess I will accept my second choice, pay up, then see what happens with USC. I wonder why they do this when they know all the schools want an answer by May 1st?
