hi all. i am a junior (will be senior this september). weighted GPA: 3.925 (dont know uw GPA). and i have some EC’s, about 5 clubs/sport. and service hrs are about 40-50 hrs. i want to know what are the minimum SAT/ACT scores i can get so that i will still be accepted?

Well a 3.925 GPA looks very nice indeed, though I suspect they'll care more for what it is unweighted as opposed to weighted.

From that link you can see that of the entering 2007 Class, about 90 percent had an ACT/SAT score of at least 24/1090. (The slash is because OSU will take either or, and has NO PREFERENCE even though some will tell you they favor ACT).

That's just for admission. ACT/SAT scores will need to be higher for certain programs, like Maximus, Honors, etc.

do they care about EC's and service hrs a lot?

Do you think if i have a 23/1080 that i should be okay?

^ I'd try to up the ACT score. Coming from Ohio, I'd say the majority of people only submit the ACT. Most of my school (and friends from other schools) don't even take the SAT.

When I was growing up, Ohio State was seen as a school that EVERYONE could go to. Only very recently have they made it a lot harder to get in. Test score and GPA averages are up.

To the OP: are you OOS? If so, I'd say aim for a 27-28. If you got that, then I think you have a GREAT! chance of getting in.

^ you mean the new test scores and GPA averages are up?

that's just what my GC has been saying all year. Plus, I know several people that work there, and they all say it has become increasingly harder to get in. I mean, it's not even close to being a really selective school, but it's not the walk in the park that it used to be.

did they update the new averages for GPA and scores?

I don't think so. I'm really not sure though.

The most current up-to-date stats for ACT/SAT scores and class rank are in my previous post above, just follow the link.

Check out this link to an article that appeared in the Cleveland Plain Dealer a few months ago:

It discusses the fact that OSU is becoming more difficult to get into, and that many students that want to attend the main campus don't have strong enough numbers to start out there, so they end up attending a regional campus until they earn 45 credits, and can transfer to the main campus. Apparently over a third of OSU freshman start out at a regional campus. They mention that the average ACT score this year is a 27.

From what I understand, it's very easy to transfer into OSU from a regional campus.

I would re-take the ACT, and try to bump up your score by a few points. With your current scores, OSU is probably a reach school for you. I would apply, but I wouldn't count on getting in.

edit: sorry, that response really only applies to Shaynn13, as the op didn't post his/ her ACT/ SAT scores.

but i am only taking one AP class in my senior year(AP calc), because i already took ap chem and my school didnt offer ap physics.... will only one ap class affect my chance of getting in?

I don't think so ^.
OSU is not competitive to the point where you have to take ALL the hardest classes in your school.
