I got denied from Vandy. I sent in an appeal 3 weeks ago because I noticed my transcript was messed up big time, and I was unable to update my application with other supplemental information because of personal issues going on. Does anyone have any information about appeals? How long does it take to get a response from them? Would their response just be a letter in the mail or an email? I know appeals are rarely overturned, and the denial will most likely stand as is. I also have more substantial information to add in since sending off the appeal.
What do you mean that your “transcript was messed up big time.” Are you saying that your HS had the wrong classes and/or grades reported on your transcript? Did they send somebody else’s transcript by mistake and nobody noticed?
I realized that my transcript had an underreported GPA originally. There were a few college classes that were not on it, a few college classes listed multiple times, classes listed that I never even took, college classes weighted as college prep classes instead of college classes, etc. My parent told a friend of ours to double check on her transcript because of how messed up mine was, and she learned that hers wasn’t even correct either.
To be honest, I would not be surprised if they sent in somebody else’s transcript because admin has mistook me for the other 5 Asian students at my school throughout my high school career. When I was given an honor for being top of my class last year, I was not rewarded it because they “could not find my sibling’s name” thinking I was my sibling.
You need to report any errors to your HS immediately and discuss the situation with them.
Hi, so, I did talk to my high school counselors about those errors when we caught them, and they just said, “oops.” I got the transcript sorted out and sent an updated one to the other schools I am waiting to hear back from. I also asked for additional information that could have been incorrect at the time my application was submitted, and they just told me, “it’s just too many qualified applicants for few spots.” and were unwilling to help.
