question about penn-wharton

Im not understanding this

is penn and wharton different? I know wharton is penn's business school....?

So does one apply to either penn or penn-wharton? do they have different

application procceses?

Same for NYU- STERN and other colleges like that?

I know its like that for UofM, UofM engineering or etc.?

thanks

I can only respond to the one abt penn/wharton, but:

Penn & Wharton are different...you apply to one or the other (& if you get rejected from one you cannot apply to the other)

Wharton is much more competitive but both schools at Penn are extremely competititve.

I think...not sure...that the application process is the same.

I'm pretty sure you can get rejected from Wharton, but still accepted into another school in Penn.?

When you apply to penn undergrad you are asked to list the faculty that you would like to be considered for:
- The Wharton School
- The School of Arts and Sciences (The College)
- The School of Applied Sciences and Engineering
- The Nursing School

So you either get accepted to one or not at all. Unless you apply to a dual degree program (BSE/BA, BA/BSN, BSE,BSN, etc.) then you are considered for the program or if you are not program material you are considered for whichever school you list.

So if I apply ED to Wharton and get rejected, I can't apply to Penn CAS in the RD round?

I dont think so

no you can't. If you apply and get rejected at wharton then you can't apply to SAS in RD. Also a lot of people try to be sneaky and apply to the easier schools nursing (around 40% acceptance) and college (around like 18%) and then transfer to wharton (around 12.5%). However, the school makes it really hard to transfer into wharton like you need a 3.4 to apply but to be competitive you need a 3.8+. So pretty much you have to reapply to college all over again. The adcom also looks for these "backdoor whartonites" and then if they see that someone is applying to nursing and they can tell that he or she is actually trying to get into wharton then they'll just evaluate you against the wharton applicants and probably reject you if you were going to get rejected anyways.
