For the TAU do UC's only look at your planned courses to make sure you will be finishing up any major pre-reqs and GEs? I am just wondering, because since I am basically done with my GE's and major pre-reqs by Spring I needed an extra class to meet the minimum to be a full time student so I just put I will be taking Calculus (I'll be changing that though since after taking pre-calc right now I know I don't want to take another college math course for a while). I am just wondering if planned courses affect admissions?

Also, I will be taking a course that counts both towards my Art GE and my English GE; however, I forgot to mention that it'll count for both in the additional comments section. Do you have to explain those kind of things to them? Or will they just infer that I will finish my GE's if I stated it on my original application I will finish all GE's by Spring?

Haha, i’m thinking they don’t really look as long as everything is done… and maybe they check if you’re taking classes towards finishing up the last GEs, but I heard they mostly base admissions off GPA of the units you completed up to Fall.

Oh, what do you mean comprehensive review for Cal? What do they look for exactly? So UCLA is the one that bases it mostly off GPA? I’m aiming mostly for Cal and LA!

Berkeley’s review is comprehensive because they look at your essays, extra curriculars, prereqs, and GPA. GPA obviously gets the most weight, but they even look at your GPA in a more comprehensive way, too, since on MyBerkeleyApp you list the breakdown of your GPA by units and grades, your major GPA, and your IGETC GPA.

UCLA, on the other hand, basically only cares that you finish prereqs and have a high GPA.

I see, thanks for the input. Do you HAVE to do the winter update for TAU? because my gpa is probably going to go down and I don’t know if that’ll affect admissions. They stated they’ll only look at Fall; and whatever you send later is just to make sure you pass your classes? Is that true though?

Also, if anyone can answer this, what is berkeley and ucla’s policy on P/NP courses? I have a grade of P in 5 units that are NOT transferrable, so I don’t think they count, but I plan on taking my first P next quarter for one of my GE’s. Is there a rule against taking classes P/NP?

They have a unit restriction (or percentage restriction) on how many units they will accept P/NP for, I believe. I’m not 100% sure on the exact amount though. Do a quick google search?

Well, it’s actually 2 courses the first one is Chem 1 W it was a chemistry workshop and the second one was a CNAS advising seminar ( i forgot the actual name of it). So the Chem workshop was 3 units and the seminar was 2. This was back in freshman year when I was doing Learning Community when I was still a bio major, then I switched out to be CHASS undeclared. So I don’t think those two courses count =/ since they’re not technically academic courses and don’t really fit in anywhere on the UC A-G courses

Well the reason I asked about planned courses in the first place is because I realized that there may be a major pre-req course that I left out on the planned courses for Spring because I contacted UCLA and they said they’re not sure what course correlates with their course and I may just take it after I am admitted. I’m not 100% sure the course I want to take is even a major pre-req but the course descriptions sound pretty similar and I was going to give it a shot, but I didn’t state I was going to take it in my TAU. Now, I wonder if they can reject me for this?
