question about prebiz/econ major

I've heard stories and rumors that this major is really competitive. Is this really true because i just applied there.....

how do my chances look with these stats
2140 SAT I
750 IIC, 710 Bio M
4.1 UC
Pretty good ECs
Pretty good essays

the major IS competitive...but that only applies when you're trying to declare yourself bizecon from pre-bizecon your sophomore/junior year in the college..

for you, applying to be a freshman, it won't matter since freshman admission into the CofL&S doesn't take into consideration the major you selected on the application.

You're a safe bet.

oh and your stats are fine...good luck!

zeropatience:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCLA: Match

Business Economics is fierce. Also, if you don't get in, then you are screwed forever because the Business Economics majors get priority enrollment for the upper-division courses that actually matter for business (e.g. management, accounting, finance).

what is the acceptance rate for the business economics

not sure about the acceptance rate...but you need a minimum GPA of 3.3 although the average GPA of students accepted are usually a little higher than that.

zeropatience,

If you mean acceptance from high school, it's the same as the rest of the campus. Majors are practically irrelevant as a frosh admit (engineering and film being notable exceptions). Once there, it comes down to minimum GPA and class performance in required courses. I'm not sure of exact percentages, but it's probably not awful.

yes, sorry. just to clarify, i meant getting accepted into the major as a current UCLA student, not as a high school senior.
