question about scholarships

sorry if this is a dumb question
is nyu like usc? at usc you don't apply for scholarships, you are just considered as long as you applied by a certain date. at nyu, is the only way to get scholarship money by applying for financial aid?
also, how do you know if you got into the honors program? does it say so in the admission package?

Yes, NYU is like USC in that you don't apply for scholarships; you can still be considered for merit-based aid even if you don't apply for need-based. Supposedly, you're invited to the honors program seperately after the admission package is mailed.

Yep, D got her fat envelope today (she got pre-notified of admission a few weeks ago) and they had included a small merit award without her applying for it. It is tiny relative to the cost of attending ($2.5k/year) but any little bit helps when you are paying the "rack rate"

so your saying merit scholarships come with the fat envelope and honors program comes separately later?

Yep, sarah786
