question about television

Oh yeah. Bed studying definitely rocks over desk studying. Even though I spend 99% of my time on a desk, study-time, anyway.

Its not that people cant study in their bed (though they may drift off to sleep while working), its that there have been studies which basically say you get much more REM sleep (or maybe just better...I cant remember) if you keep your "in bed" activities down to sleeping (always room for light reading and sex though)

i have a tv tuner for my laptop too and i hooked up an antenna to the tv tuner and i get the local channels. maybe u ditn scan or anything or dint convert ur source in tv software from cable to antenna

maybe that's why i have one screwed up sleep schedule

well, I have TV in my room and cable. I don't watch TV that much, except for Poker during weekend and the Apprentice and Whose Line.

They make a USB TV tuner that can allow you to watch TV on your laptop if your computer is not equipped to do it from the getgo.

in my dorm every room is wired for cable tv, but you have you bring your own tv and cord to plug into the cable outlet. only 2 people on my hall have tvs, not many do. our lounges have tvs with dvd/vhs players.

most people download tv shows.

we get free cable at Vanderbilt (with HBO) so a lot of kids have TVs. I brought my Tivo so I don't have to wait for my shows to come on and it doesn't interfere with my studying.

doesn't Tivo cost a small fortune...?

I deathly want to bring a small TV, but am also hesitant to 'waste' any more money, seeing as how I'm already spending 40k to go to college.

A Tivo doesn't cost "a lot," but the monthly service fees add up pretty quickly.

nah, i got the lifetime subscription for $200 -- i don't think it really costs that much

hey, ottothecow,..this is off-topic, but where do you dl the daily show from? (i dont have comedy central either, and i cant seem to find a site to get the whole show)

For those people who have a tv in the room/suite and have to share it with roommates, do you often argue about what to watch, especially if there are more than two of you who want to watch different shows at the same time?

daily shows can be downloaded from bitottrent pr P2P programs but most colleges have blocked them i think.
