I got accepted to UP for next fall, and the book that they sent me about living on campus said that people who accept their offer later in the year may be placed in supplemental housing. I don't really want to live with 3+ other people my first year, so I'd like a regular 2 person room, preferably in an SLO like science, substance-free, or honors if I get into SHC, but I don't think I should enroll right away. So any current students or parents of students, when did you accept your offer of admission and did you get the kind of room/SLO you wanted?

Second, my parents think I should wait until I have absolutely every financial aid/scholarship offer before I make a decision. Does anyone know when Penn State sends out Braddock Scholarship letters?

Regarding housing, youcan submit your contract now and you will then be able to make changes (change your SLO and roommate requests) up till some date in May. So you can say you want tolive in the substance free house now and then you get into Schreyer, so you can readjust your contract to say that. Its all a matter of accepting your contract before Late March to early April. I would'nt put it off past then.

I am not sure about the Braddock scholarship as it doesn't fall under my college. I would suggest emailing someone in Eberly to get an answer. My guess, It will come with your reg. financial aid apckage containing the rest of your merit and need aid.

I'm having the same issue regarding housing. I want to submit a contract now to make sure I don't get stuck in supplemental. But my parents are the same way and want me to wait for financial info. I'm wondering the same thing, what was the latest date anyone submitted theirs and still got the kind of special housing they wanted?

If you have $300 to spare, and you're okay with taking the risk of deciding on a different school, you could send in your deposit now. I don't think you have any financial obligations until the summer(any current students, am I right?), so if you decide PSU isn't for you then you could just eat that $300. I'm thinking about doing that just to get a housing contract and preferably the SLO I want.

Nah, I would just wait. If you submit your FASFA by mid to late jan you should get ur Fin Aid package from most schools by Feb-early march. That is what I did. Commited to PSU by late March and submitted my housing contract. I opted for honors SLO as I was accepted into SHC, but alot of my friends were on the same timeline, and if they wanted a SLO, most of them got it. I would only worry about supp housing if you were submitting your contract mid to late April.

Submit the $300.00 deposit now. Don't wait. If you decide not to go to Penn State then you will just lose the $300. Its well worth knowing that you will have decent housing. Especially now with the economy so bad. There will be more students going to Penn State.
