I’m sure some more will chime in, but slow down, most of your list is the college experience. Live it instead of condensing into a post on the intewebz.

I will add that you will need the fsu/suntrust card if you plan on getting financial aid refunds. Refunds are typically credited a couple days after drop/add.

Some answers:

Are there advantages or disadvantages on getting the FSU / Sun trust card ?
Lots of advantages. Convenience and safety, to name two. Your fin aid is automatically deposited and available through this account. Sun Trust is also widely available in Florida to parents to make deposits.

Move in day suggestions, time, day ?
**First day - EARLY. Clean your room thoroughly BEFORE you move your stuff in.
**

In the suite dorms (Landis) is each room temperature controlled ?
Sort of local control. Within a range. It works.

Best way (suggestions) for four guys to clean suite bathrooms ?
Cooperation and a system. If this fails…ugh. Get someone to teach you how to properly clean.

In Landis, is there a way to secure valuables; cash, jewelry, laptops ?
Buy a cable lock for the laptop and keep your cash in your bank. Use your SunTrust card. Forget the jewelry. You don’t need it. If you have to have jewelry, bring a safe.

As a long-board enthusiasts, best hospital, orthopedic physician nearest school ?
**Whichever MDs the sports teams use. They are real pros with extensive experience.
**

Do FSU cops harass long-boarders ?
Only when they do something unlawful.

Best place for food at 300am ?
**Your room. Seriously, there are places open 24 hours…but 3:00AM?
**

Closest shopping center to school, nearest to Love Building ?
**They are all over. There is a Publix off of Ocala many students use.
**

Is the circular Sheraton hotel okay for parents visits ?
Pretty dated hotel. Used to be the Holiday Inn if we’re thinking of the same place. Lots of good places to stay in town.

Penalty for beer in dorms ?
Getting arrested by University Police.

Location of “safety” toilets throughout campus ?
All the buildings have facilities. Except the dorm baths shared by four guys who cannot cooperate for their own good - these places have to be avoided.

What typically goes on campus on weekends ?
Students actually study. Football games, basketball games, baseball games, concerts, socializing, intramural sports, pickup games of all sorts, exploring the campus and town, swimming in the sinks and at the Reservation, the gym, the National Forest, all sorts of small towns to check out, restaurants, the BBC…

What typically goes on campus at night after classes end ?
See above.

Is Tallahassee very humid / hot in August ?
Yes. Stay hydrated. It also gets cold in winter.

Best time to work-out to avoid crowds ?
Early AM. When all the 3:00AM crowd have gone to bed. :)

Most of your questions are ones that you can find the answer to just by using Google. You also list two #3 questions. :)

There’s an actual bank branch on campus, you get your financial aid overage direct deposited into your account instead of getting a check mailed to you that you might not get till who knows when, the card’s usable damn near everywhere…

The first day right when things open is the WORST time to move in. People line up beginning really early that morning, and it takes a bit for things to settle down. After about noon the first day though there’s a slower, but steady stream of people moving in. If you really want to avoid the lines, move in around 10:30pm at night.

Once dorms open at 9am, they’re open. You can move in any time, although after 11pm they tend to be a bit slower, because there might only be 1 person working.

After the 5th day of classes. In Fall, that’s normally the day after Labor Day. [Use this link for the Academic Calendar](<a href=“FSU Registrar | Error 404 page not found”>FSU Registrar | Error 404 page not found)

I’m not 100% sure, but in Wildwood there were thermostats in each room I believe, but I swear they were mostly for show. Now, Landis might be different, but who knows.

… With Lysol, Clorox bleach, and Scrubbing bubbles?

Cash: Your wallet, which would be on you at all times
Jewelry: leave it at home
Laptops: Get a laptop lock [Here’s one for $4](http://www.amazon.com/Security-Cable-Chain-Notebook-Laptop/dp/B007K1LFJW)

Whichever one your insurance covers. I recommend finding out which providers in the area are covered by your health insurance before coming up here. The health care centers on campus will take care of the minor things probably no matter what, but it’s always best to know who your insurance covers.

Only if you give them a reason to do so…

Well, the only places that are really 24/7 on campus are Denny’s and the Starbucks in Strozier. Denny’s is your standard sub-par crap, and Starbucks is your typical Starbucks fare- you have muffins and the like.
Bottom line: best place for food is likely in your room. Stock up on snack items.

Depends on what store you need. Just a few blocks west of campus is a shopping center with CVS, and across the street from there is a Dollar Tree. A few blocks from there is Publix. There aren’t any Walmart’s close to campus.

I’m not sure on this one.

Publix and Winn-Dixie, yes. I’m not 100% sure about Walmart, but the closest Walmart is a good trek from campus in either direction.

Wherever you are going to go to make yourself an easy target. Just north of campus, and just south/southeast of campus there are less than pleasant areas of town.

[FSU Fitness & Wellness: Wellness Center](http://fsu.campusrec.com/fitness/wellness.shtml) Thagard is really where a lot of the medical stuff is taken care of: [Thagard Student Health Center](http://www.tshc.fsu.edu/)

Well, if you’re not 21, it’s illegal in the first place. I’ll leave it at that. If you have gone through Orientation, they showed a video that told you what to do and not do on campus- and this was covered, actually (unless that changed recently).

I will leave this question to people that actually care about partying and all that.

Pretty much every building. You’re never more than a minute or two walking from a bathroom.

The same stuff that goes on on campus during the week, except that there’s no classes.

See #17.

Depends on what you’re looking for. Strozier can be a loud place, as funny as it is.

Depends on what you think is hot. It can get up above 100 degrees. And it’s Florida- it’s always humid.

When the place opens at like 6am.

Don’t be an idiot.

the circular Sheraton was just completely renovated. I’ve not stayed there–tried to get reservations for parent’s weekend but they were full. I would say it would be a good place to stay as it’s location is great in it’s proximity to the school.

Well, ok. My parents stayed in the round Holiday Inn in the 1970s. The place is quite old, but the location is splendid with regard to Florida State.
