grow up and desist your childish prejudices against a great school
It is always the same,
my school is good yours not
is in not a little bit boring?

Could not have said that more aptly.

Yes, it's almost like giving yourself a compliment...;)

What?

(10 characters)

wat's this 10 character's business??

Duke is amazing and gets way too much flack on CC, WUSTL is absolutely overrated.

slipper, just curious, you praise Duke on these boards as much or sometimes more than your own alma matter. I mean, in all seriousness, I never had any idea that Duke was so prestigious. I mean, it has always catched my eye being the Harvard of the South. Also, until these boards, I never heard of so many ppl turnding down the likes of Columbia and Brown for Duke. In my school, this just isn't the case. While I respect ppl on this board, but I really feel that a lot of kids on these boards lie about their credentials and the schools they got into. It is sometimes really easy to say I got into Cornell, Columbia, Penn, but I am going to Duke--I liked it better. It could be true, but everyone including myself and yourself should look at the comments on this board with a grain of salt.

have you attended both schools? if not I doubt you can make a reasonalbe statement.

Collegekid, you chose Cornell over Duke in part because you held the notion that it is more prestigious.

....you were wrong.

PS: I guess I am like Slipper because I respect Dartmouth at least as much as I do Duke or any other top private.

yeah collegekid i have no idea what you are saying. you seem to want to make your self feel better for making that choice. Well no one is going to hold your hand and say that cornell is better. When I got into Duke and Cornell at the same time it was pretty much a no brainer for me to go to Duke. I really dont know why you find that hard to believe. Duke is amazing and it has many things cornell doesnt for undergrad : smaller student body, very well rounded, great placement for graduate school, warmer weather, better sports team and more school pride, and the list goes on and on. But an argument can be made for either side. So i really dont see why you have a problem understanding someone picking duke over all these great schools like cornell. be confident in your decision

stan, i never said anything was wrong w. duke, it is a fabulous school. All I was saying that there is a lot of pervasive lying on this board, and ppl should be cautious of that when reading ppl's opinions. That's all. Duke is fabulous, but it just wasn't for me and I had my reasons. Nonetheless, I hold the school in the highest of highest regards.

Well said. It is just that your prior posts seem not to elucidate that.

"...never heard of so many ppl turnding down the likes of Columbia and Brown for Duke. In my school, this just isn't the case."

It's funny you mention this considering as how I do not know a single person who did NOT get into Cornell. I respect Cornell as much as anybody, but this ruse de guerre must stop. :)

LOL You are Cali native, so I hope you pack lots of coats and Cornell sweaters come this fall. :)

GO BIG RED!

but why would people lie?? i have gotten to know so many of these people online and i have talked to them outside of cc as well. i have met them at admit weekends and discussed colleges with alot of them. they are real people and most of them got into these schools. maybe some are lying but most of them are telling the truth. there is no reason not to

devil, i didn't select my school based on prestige, b/c if i did, i would be going to Duke next year (ranked #4 or 5 on US News--supposedly gauging prestige). BTW, what you find to be more or less prestigious will clash with others. In this country, U of Chicago is so underrated, overseas, it is so incedibly prestigious. At my school, i was friends w. some asian americans who came here from Korea, China, Japan, the instant I got into Chicago, they all encouraged me to go there...but again, it wasn't the right fit for me.

Yeah I met Stan at Duke. He rejected Yale for Stanford. Take that Bulldog scum! :)

PS: I utterly agree with everything you said, collegekid.

hold up, u guys really met each other at Duke, that's pretty cool, and like how did you know it was STAN, like did you go up to him and say hey i am that mascot for Devil May Cry on college confidential lol, i mean how did you guys meet?

LOL We met because I knew his real name from prior CC conversations. He was fortunately the only person I met there with his name so I put the pieces together. I met him on West Campus and he was drunk as all hell. :) Well, I guess I was a little tipsy myself. Anyhow, I told him who I was and blah blah blah

LOL Maybe I should become a screenwriter for Guiding Light or As the World Turns. :)

lol duke was one big party and i was drunk that whole time. I love admit weekends. nice preview of how much fun im going to have for the next 4 years. lol great incentive to get into these schools

don't schools hype everything up for admit weekends? (better food, more minorities out and about lol) I've heard the complaint from a lot of people that admit weekend was very misleading. However Duke is awesome, so there shouldn't be much of a discrepancy between their admit weekend and any old weekend. ;)

LOL I slept through most of the events they had planned for us, so I wouldnt know. :)

But I hear that they try to paint a perfect picture of these schools to attract potential matriculants.
