<p>Your routine at the talent show was crazy. Anyway, I went to several of the parties--the one at the Bryan Center was perhaps the craziest.</p>
<p>Collegekid: But yeah, I met DMC and Stan at the Duke admit weekend too. I seriously doubt many of the people were lying as well. Many were checking their decisions online for other schools while we were there. Everyone was pretty candid about where they got accepted and rejected from.</p>
<p>o, in person that's one thing, but on internet forums, the tendency to fabrication and make up things is very tempting. I am serious, click on a person's screen name on CC and then check their prior posts on thier own stats. For some, you will see their SAT score ranging from anything from a 1400 on one post, 1460 on another, 1530 on another. I am sorry, there is pervasive lying on this forum, and you guys (smart and all) should be more aware of that. I wish I could say the world was a better place, but it isn't the case. I could stand up and tell you i got into UPenn, but didn't go b/c i am in cornell engineering, alrite but that ain't the case.</p>
<p>True, I would not be surprised if people here lied or "accentuated" the positive. I have noticed some blatant contradictions, but I honestly was too apathetic to care. But yeah I agree there are many people here that are not completely candid. Sometimes, I wonder what purpose there is in lying online--it seems pointless.</p>

<p>Rankings are all a matter of opinion. The difference between a lot of the schools on these lists are small enough that you can't say for sure whether one is "better" than the other. If someone had ranked Cornell above Princeton or Stanford, then I understand saying they need to so some research. But above Amherst and Williams? That's a tenable claim...even if I don't like ranking research universities and LACs together.</p>
<p>I couldn't say it better. It is amusing but also frightening how serious many people take all this rankings.</p>

<p>hehe I'm a graduate student and did my undergraduate in Germany. Thank god we dont have any useless rankings there.</p>

<p>no doubt, cornell deserves respect--but as far as selectivity and undergrad quality Cornell can't touch AWS.</p>
<p>Majayiduke09 - i had the best host ever. he was a party animal and he made sure I had the best weekend ever. The first night he just took me to a room with his friends and we just took shots together. they were all really cool and I loved hanging out with all those college kids. The final night I went out with all those other pre froshes to a huge party at duke called the "Mad Hatters party" (everyone who goes to the minority weekend next year, you better go to this) It was amazing. the whole place was built like the movie alice in wonderland. there was aluminum foil covering the entire dorm and they played alice in wonderland on every tv in the house. definently the coolest party ever. I was way too drunk on both days lol but it was such a good time. I really hope Stanford can match up or else ill be transferring soon lol.</p>
