BC above UNC and Wake? GTech below VTech?

"BC above UNC and Wake?"

Not sure about the question mark here, as there is definitely a good argument that BC is better than both. I did not put GT below VT.

Any Atlantic 10 takers?

I'll do A10:

Notes:

Dayton surprisingly had the fourth highest SAT average, but I honestly don't know of any of their well known programs.
UMass and Temple are a virtual wash, but Temple's honors program is more selective.
Saint Joe's sucks.

Big 10:
1. Northwestern
2. Michigan
3. Wisconsin
4. Illinois
5. Penn State
6. Ohio State
7. Minnesota

9. Clemson
10. VA Tech
11. FSU
12. NC State

In the case of the Big 10, I don't think it is fair to rank the bottom half. There really are no weak or average universities in the Big 10. The top 4 are pretty obvious. The next 7 are all roughly equal.

First, wow, I didn't know Jon Stewart posted here

anyways, i'll have to strongly disagree with your analysis of the TA situation at Brown. Most TA's are undergrads, which means they just took the subject and are volunteering for the job, and therefore have been enthusiastic and helpful. Most grad TA's are well removed from that basic course you are taking and are grudgingly, lamentingly, standing in the same room as you.

ACC

Duke
Wake Forest
Boston College
UVirginia
UNorth Carolina
Ga Tech
Miami
all the rest

Imagine the shock if the ACC had invited Georgetown, William & Mary, and Davidson, instead Fla St, Miami, Va Tech. It truly could have made a claim about academic standards, but alas, $ triumphs over all.

ACC-Duke, UVA, UNC, Wake, BC, Ga Tech, Maryland.

In my experience, this doesn't fairly characterize most grad student TAs. Their work as TA is supporting their graduate studies in their chosen field. Most are aiming to become academics and their work as TA is a valuable training ground, giving them teaching experience in their chosen field that will help them land full-time academic jobs later. Consequently, most are diligent, enthusiastic, and focused, though of course their talent and skill as teachers is highly variable. Of course, the talent and skill of professors as teachers is also highly variable.

I don't think you can do better than that when ranking the Big East. This is, in my opinion, the best ranking posted thus far for the conference.

Washington State is much better than Oregon State and Oregon. WSU is also better that Arizona State. Everybody and their mom gets into Arizona State. WSU is right on par with Arizona IMHO.

Some applying students are getting into UCLA and Cal and not into USC. In the past ten years their football program is not the only USC upgrade.

Wazzou is a fine school for sure, and even though the SAT average is slightly higher, and the acceptance rate is lower, I think UO has better programs and has probably the most underrated honors program in the country.
