Ranking UCSD colleges

JeSuis
thanks that answered my question… lol my question was really really poorly worded

Lol…people on this thread who are boasting about their college are lame…

Highest GPA’s by the time they graduate? Well no ****, Muir has the easiest GE’s…

“Best dorms” – stupid freshman still feeling high and mighty about something as shallow as a dorm’s facade…

I chose the college I’m in at complete random and I wouldn’t change it for the world

but at the same time I’m not going to brag about how great my college is…

who gives a ****

Haha robbins, that’s funny. Which college are you in?

My friend had Muir as 4th pick and still got in… not quite sure what you’re talking about.

I’m pre-med and wonder in which sequence I should put my college choices? A nice mix of cool but quiet dorms. Any chance for a private room in any of them? Which college has the most pre-meds? Thanks in advance!

premed? any of them will get you into med school. but common knowledge assigns revelle the most # of neurotic premeds.

(this is pretty much based on revelle’s GEs favoring mostly math/science classes. in reality, you can get into med school with any major as long as you have the premed requirements completed as well.)

If you’re premed, I would definitely put roosevelt last and Revelle/Muir first.

Revelle is definitely the most prestigious. The students there work their butts off for those damn GE’s and still manage to survive. That’s what you call determination. Everyone’s saying Muir, but people at Muir have the reputation of being lazy and slackers, so if you’re looking for the easy way out, by all means go to Muir. If you like a challenge and you want to better yourself, go to Revelle. BUT WARNING: Revelle is killer. THERE IS NO MERCY. You gotta be on top of your game. Not anyone could handle it ;D Other than that, all of the other colleges are ok. Marshall’s has OVT AND Goody’s! Best place to eat. Revelle’s food is bipolar, one day it’s nasty, one day it’s the bomb. Muir’s food is ok, but always fresh (except the cold ass sushi). ERC is crazy beautiful (but that’s it). Sixth is away from everything. So if you can’t handle Revelle, I’ll suggest Marshall (food) and Warren.

@SweetTarts

You can find plenty of hardworking people in Muir who were “determined” and informed enough to ask around + do their own research on UCSD when ranking their colleges. And of course, you do get those people that randomly picked Muir first, cashed in on the easy GEs and slack off. But I think you can find lazy people and slackers in every college–not just only in Muir…

I don’t really know if there is any “prestige” that comes with being a Revelle student. If any informed applicant purposely ranks Revelle first and does well in HUM + Revelle’s other GEs, then that is simply awesome. Does it really “better yourself” though?

Hey guys, what would be the best order of colleges for a person interested in mechanical/electrical engineering?

@Sweettarts
I don’t see any prestige in choosing Revelle. If you want to better yourself, you can go to a college with easier GEs and still take those classes if you want. At least at that point, you have the choice. Muir graduated with the highest GPA, so i wouldnt exactly call them slackers either. Btw, i’m in Warren so i’m not exactly biased.

@e5volcano
I think everyone would suggest Warren for engineers.

@SweetTarts

I think you bought into the Revelle bragging a little too seriously. Three classes aren’t going to make you smarter than anybody else. (Three = the # of hum courses that are required to be taken at UCSD, which folks from other colleges can’t enroll in) People interviewing you for jobs, grad schools, med schools, etc won’t give a care what college you went to, unless they’re UCSD alums themselves (and even then, it’s just for curiosity).

I applaud your enthusiasm for your college, but overdoing it is just making yourself sound a bit pretentious. UCSD is a good university. Revelle is a decent enough college that it’s manage to keep up its legends/reputation/stereotypes for as long as it has. But just having UCSD or Revelle to your name doesn’t count for anything unless you actually do something worthwhile with yourself in college.

-Revelle alum

Ok, this right here, wrong. 100% wrong. You are VERY misinformed.

$kingsElite$- im sure you are talking about Muir right?
-just wanted to make sure :)

so if i want the pharmacological chemistry major at UCSD, im sure i would have to select
Revelle,
Muir,
ERC
Warren,
Marshall
Sixth

lol im gonna have to re-read the packet about the colleges.
i might bump up warren to go before ERC, though?

You can get into the pharmchem major with ANY choice of college. Source? Half my classmates.

@spatel23

Well yeah, and that Revelle is “prestigious”. What is prestigious supposed to mean here? None of the colleges are any more prestigious than the others. It amazes me the lies that people come up with. I don’t know where they get them from. Anyway, pick the college with the GEs that you want to take. That’s the best advice I can give.

How hard is it to get into Muir?
I ranked it 1. Muir 2.Warren 3.Sixth 4. Thurgood 5. Eleanor 6. Revelle

Hey any suggestions for my rankings?

I’m applying for Mechanical Engineering.

Warren

Muir

Marshall

Revelle

ERC

Sixth

Thanks!!

^good 10 charrrrr

I am looking to major in environmental studies. Any suggestion on preferred college?
