RD decision dates?

@lemming101: fingers crossed! @nebraskagal: Haha from Minnesota to Nebraska? 1 day or max 2? I don’t know but within US it should arrive very soon. When we send mail to US from my country via TNT, it arrives there in about 4 days. I expect the same thing from Carleton:) I hope my letter will be at home on Saturday at the latest…

Yeah I’m crossing my fingers for tomorrow! I’m in very eastern Nebraska like almost in Iowa so I think that might make the difference!

Can’t imagine have long will that take to arrive in China OMG

I sent this to Carleton’s Facebook page:

Hello!

I applied regular decision to Carleton and just saw that decision letters were sent today. I am curious about the type of mail service the decision letters were sent to internationals (Europe) and hence, what is the expected time of arrival? (the waiting is killing me!)

Thank you!

This is what they sent back:

From the Admissions Committee: Call us old-school, but we still rely on the mail to share our admissions decisions. Admitted students who live abroad will receive a package via FedEx, and waitlisted and denied students living abroad will receive their decisions via regular national mail service. Though we expect all letters to arrive by April 1, if you haven’t received notification by then, you’ll be able to log in on April 1 to see your admissions decision: go.carleton.edu/appstatus

Rooting for you IBNlux!

I live in Colorado… I’m hoping I get my letter by Friday.

Do you happen to live in Omaha, nebraskagal? If so, I do too :). When I saw that Facebook post, my heart seriously jumped. I’m so nervous! Good luck everyone!

… Possibly. Let me know if you get it because if you do so will I :)

Nothing from here in Nebraska, although Carleton did start following me a twitter. I’m taking it as a sign(:

Thanks for posting that the letters have been sent!

Anybody know when Carleton’s admit student day is scheduled in April?

April 11-13 or April 18-20 (both Thursday-Saturday)

Got my admissions package today, and I live in Canada so I’m pretty sure y’all will be getting yours soon as well. So happy! :D

Nothing :(

Interesting… Canada seems the first to receive packet. Carleton sends international packets via FedEx, so it seems our neighbors to the north get their letters before even those in Minnesota. Or, at least nothing in the mail today from Carleton at our Twin Cities, MN, home!

Well done, Tsukirin! You will love Northfield and being a Carl.

Omg @nebraskagal they’re following me too

checks twitter
sees that Carleton isn’t following me
:(

I think they’re only following me because I tweeted about them. I’m sure it’s not a reflexion of my application status! And dang Canadians!

Nothing here in the Twin Cities, either… thinking that maybe they actually missed the mailman yesterday afternoon with the domestic mail… not really. A few years ago we were at an LAC on the east coast visiting on the day the letters went out. Everyone in the office gathered at the window to watch the mail guy carry the boxes to the truck. We thought the admissions officers were excited to see the letters go out and wanted to watch. Then one of them told us that the previous year the guy had dropped the boxes, and the letters all spilled under the truck. They justed wanted to make sure it didn’t happen again…

@intparent It seems as though in the past, 1 day from Northfield to anywhere in the TC would have been expected. S didn’t get his “Yes Mac” letter until Monday, whereas someone (you?) reported receipt of acceptance on Saturday in St. Paul. By Monday, there were people in California and all over the country also receiving Mac pacs.

Just think of the current juniors. They will get their notices later without Saturday mail delivery!

Yes, I was just thinking that the other day, that snail mail will be an even more painful way to send decisions in the future. I think it is actually a pretty cruel way to notify these days… everyone can see online that others who are physically close are getting their results while they wait for the mail to arrive. And international students who are waitlisted or rejected really have to agonize over whether their Fed Ex is lost until their snail mail shows up really late. Seems like online communication has changed the game a bit. It used to be that you didn’t know if someone else had gotten an answer (and wouldn’t even know that the packets had been sent out). Now everyone has access to that info, but lots of people have to wait days for their results while knowing that lots of other people have already heard.
