SgtDonut, CONGRATS!

Now I am really worried…

Was just waitlisted at Mac and holding out hope for Carleton
I’m all the way down in Florida so I’m not too sure when it’ll get here if people in MN still haven’t gotten letters. My Mac letter was dated and postmarked 3/15 and I got it 3/19 (to me Mac’s mail delivery has always been top-notch?? can’t say that same about Carleton) so hopefully Carleton’s will be arriving shortly!!

lol no i didn’t hear back yet, i was just being sad. don’t worry!

Hahaha SgtDonut, I also thought you were accepted (and I hope you will!). Answer to your Q: from Istanbul. Have you ever been there? Let me know if you visit, I can be your tour guide;)

Sadly, no, but I would love to come visit Istanbul. There’s this song by a band called They Might Be Giants called Istanbul that I used to listen to when I was younger… Also, I know someone who studied there for a year and learned Turkish, it sounded so cool.

So…how long do you think it’d take for the mail to reach the exotic locale of Miami? I’m hoping for tomorrow or Saturday, but who knows? If I get rejected, I probably won’t see it at all :c.

I got one in Colorado from Ohio in three days, so I have high hopes that I’ll see a letter either tomorrow or Saturday! :3

(though the letter might not be a particularly hopeful one… but I’d rather the wait be over either way)

@robcol - I visited Istanbul when I was pretty young (five maybe?), and although I can’t remember a lot, I distinctly remember the incredible hospitality/kindness of many people we met (one man gave my brothers and me free grapes, another free Turkish delights!), and I also remember the stunning beauty of a mosque we visited. I hope I can make it out there again some day.

Anyway, nervously anticipating a letter here in New Jersey. Hopefully it’ll come tomorrow or Saturday.

I haven’t even gotten a letter and I live <8 hours away from Carleton. I’m really expecting it tomorrow, but then again I’m hoping for a letter from DC in two days. I hope everyone gets their letters before this Sunday, I know how grueling the wait is

@Robcol, my niece is on a Fulbright Scholarship in Georgia (not the US state) this year, and her mom (my sister) and another niece went to visit her in January, but first they all met up in Istanbul. Based on the photos (keeping in mind I couldn’t taste all the food, or meet the people), I fell in love with Turkey because of the CATS! My family is all cat-crazy, and there were more photos posted on their Facebook pages of Turkish and Georgian cats than any other thing from the trip! The Carleton College library has a statue of a beloved campus cat, Toff, who went to kitty heaven two years ago. Here’s an article about it: [Toff, Carleton’s Late Campus Cat, Gets Statue - Northfield, MN Patch](Toff, Carleton's Late Campus Cat, Gets Statue | Northfield, MN Patch)

@SgtDonut and @andurilukr: happy to hear your experiences guys! (Especially andurilukr, since you actually were here!!! I think the mosque you are talking about is Blue Mosque–just opposite of Hagia Sophia in the downtown–very beautiful indeed:)

Anyways, I was really expecting to receive the admission decision on 23rd of March since they sent the letters on 19th of March and 4 days is the typical arrival time from US to here. However, people who live very close to Carleton didn’t get anything so far… so I kind of lost my hope. I also applied to Northwestern and they released decisions about 3 hours ago. However, I haven’t got any e-mail yet. A representative from NU wrote on CC that delivery to gmail accounts is slower than others!..

I am totally disappointed…

I was deferred from Carleton early decision, and I received my letter 2 days after they claimed to mail them, so I’m assuming they’ll arrive in the Midwest tomorrow! I live in the Chicago suburbs. I hope that gives people some insight on timing.

sounds like we shouldn’t hold our breath for mail in Texas tomorrow…

This is the USPS map for how long it should take for a letter from Carleton to arrive – https://ribbs.usps.gov/modernservicestandards/ssmaps/find_map.cfm

Use “550” since it’s the closest to Carleton’s zip code.

Also, feel free to join the Carleton Class of 2017 Facebook group! (: Good luck everyone!

Well then the real question is if they sent it first-class or not. If they did, it would make sense that almost no one has gotten it, but everyone (well all the domestic applicants) should get it tomorrow! But if they didn’t I guess we have a long way to wait.

They did send it first-class via USPS. Fedex for international students. You guys should expect yours tomorrow or the day after.

(I work in Carleton’s Post Office & Mailing Services)

@thehangingtree
Thank you so much!

Got my Macalester acceptance package today here in Pakistan. It was priority. So, I expect Carleton will be reaching me next week?

ACCEPTED! SO HAPPYY!! Wow, FedEx worked super fast!

Congratulations! I hope I hear soon.
