Well… parsing the Facebook post, it says “packets are in the mail”, not “all packets are in the mail”. So maybe only internationals were mailed? It could be a while… Kenyon sent out international packets almost two weeks ago, and no one in the US has heard a peep yet. :(

I’m pretty sure they would have specified that it was just international students if that was true. They wouldn’t go advertising that they had sent out the letters if they hadn’t- though it does say “admit packets”, not all letters :-/

Has anyone gotten a decision in the US?

Nothing received today one block outside of Minneapolis… I have been arranging my work schedule so I can be home at mail delivery time. Want to be here to support S whichever way the decision when he gets the news. This is the one that matters most to him.

Maybe tomorrow? Did receive scholarship info (good news!) from other MN LAC, but this is separate from Financial Aid, and that is apparently coming in a separate letter.

Hang tight, everyone. Keep busy, don’t drive yourself nuts speculating about ever sign or omen. Thank goodness, none of us in our family twitter! : )

@SgtDonut: YESS!! I visited Chicago 2 years ago. Very lovely city…

It’s all right, haha, hopefully next year I’ll be residing in Northfield. What part of Turkey are you from?

So I went to get my mail and inside the box I saw a very small envelope from a college that was blue and started with a C. I almost started crying until I realized it was a birthday card from another place I’ve been accepted to. Still keeping the dream alive over here!

@nebraskagal, Happy Birthday! Is it today? Maybe you’ll get a BIG blue envelope tomorrow from a college that starts with a C and is located in MN for a super birthday present!

Yup, still got nothing.

Like Llantwitmajor, eager to get the mail in MN… ducked out early yesterday, found nothing of interest in the mailbox. Maybe that “other MN LAC” will have good financial news for us today :), but not counting on finding anything from Carleton today. They really can’t have actually gotten them in the mail two days ago and have no one received them yet. Roads are dry and fairly clear here, no reason for mail delays.

Do you guys think international FedEx packages will also be delayed just as domestic packages are? If the letter doesn’t come before the 26th I’m considering it as a “no” from Carleton.

ACCEPTED!!! I live near-ish to Carleton so that probably explains why I got my big envelope today.

@intparent. Interesting to see our letter from Mac dated Monday, postmarked Tuesday and received Thursday. I just checked a map and it is indeed only 12 miles as the crow flies. 14.1 miles by google map directions. Mail is clearly slowing down these days…It is comforting to know others in MN haven’t heard either, but I agree, there are some positives to tradition, but sending acceptances by snail mail isn’t one of them! Besides Carleton, S is waiting on one other, and the college sent out an e-mail to all applicants saying those who are accepted can find out at 7 AM CT this Saturday on their online application account. This college (Midd) doesn’t send out rejections at all. Obviously, those admitted will receive packets, but that may be days after Saturday. Still, everyone can find out at the same time, no matter where they live. I like that. It’s this “pending” status that is so stressful. On the other hand, that’s also how some things are in “real life,” so a good experience for young adults to have when they still have support from home to deal with it.

rex2017, CONGRATULATIONS! What does the big envelope look like? Do you live in Northfield? or neighboring zip?

Dang, I thought for sure it’d be here today… Just hoping it comes tomorrow or Saturday.

^I’m waiting on Midd as well, though I would much rather go to Carleton. “Other MN LAC” did not provide any financial aid info, so I am worried about that aspect. Grinnell has already given their FA offer, which is affordable (thank goodness), but like every other kid at the admitted students’ weekend, Carleton is my first choice…

@ LlantwitMajor Thanks! The envelope was large, white, and didn’t have any writing on it. Inside there was a navy blue folder with financial aid info, letter, packets, etc. And no I don’t live in Northfield, but I’m closer to it than the Twin Cities are (which is where I’m assuming the majority of applicants are from).

Rex: I’m guessing Faribault or Farmington.

Other MN LAC: St. Olaf, right? Or maybe Gustavus? Hamline? :)

Big envelope from Carleton here in Twin Cities as well. So I guess they did mail them after all. NMF scholarship for $2,000/year. However… no need based FA offered at all (other colleges have offered some). D also got a merit letter from “another MN LAC” (Mac) today. So we will see what else comes in over the next week – but nice to be in at Carleton!

@Descartesz: other MN LAC: Macalester

@intparent Shoot, I hope you just have a better mail system! S put C. as first choice for NMF and if he gets into C., I suppose that is all he’ll get as well.

Anyone else in Twin Cities apply for a Wallin Scholarship? I believe just seniors at Minneapolis/St. Paul/Anoka Hennepin public high schools are eligible (with some financial parameters). It has to be used in the midwest. It is supposed to be announced by 4/6.

whoopeeeee
