Yeah. I’m going to the engineering open house on the 13th!

Again Congrats but now I am confused esp with Spire since most folks are getting their notification via snail mail . reason being I’ve heard (hearsay) that students from 2012 had been accepted and still their Spire status was “in review” even after acceptance now I am confused .Should I wit for snail mail or wait til midnight’s Spire update.

OrangeWhite - we heard via snail mail first, then Spire was updated I think 2-3 days later?

CTCountess, we’re going to open house next Friday. My son was accepted into the premed program.

BTMell-No. no word today (just picked up the mail). DS did email the Ad Rep he’s been dealing with and asked her for any updates. she said applications are still being processed and notifications are still going out but that it is getting close to the end. She said that if she heard anything she would let him know.

It’s good to know it’s still moving along at least.

I actually just got home to see my big letter in the mailbox. I guess the Sunday and the snowstorm slowed its progress. I would look for mail first. My spire says to expect a letter within 7-10 days even though I already have the letter lol

Nothing in the mail today except some UConn Parents magazine…

USNChief-we got that same magazine a couple of days ago. I enjoyed it and appreciate the attempts to keep parents up to date. Also got FA info from Roger Williams (good money but it was a safety school and DS won’t be going there), but as i said before, nothing from UMass.

The arrival of the large envelope at ctcountess’ house has me anticipating that something may arrive tomorrow. I just want all the data on hand so that son can finally make a decision. Still waiting on Northeastern but my son did not really care for that school when we visited. Of course there still is WPI, but I already know that the financials will be out of reach on that one. Almost hoping for a rejection so that it does not muddy the waters. UMass is the only realistic player left that might sway us away from UMaine. I am pretty sure that he will go with our in-state school since but do want to examine the other options before closing the deal.

I do hope to hear soon, though the fact that people are getting their acceptances in the mail already again is comforting. A heap of others at my school have already heard back from them already; I think I’m the only one I know of who’s still waiting of the ~45 others I’ve spoken to. It’s about frustrating, but the month is ending soon so I’ll know eventually. I just wish I could have it sooner as opposed to the last few days of March.

i wonder if there is any significance to being notified later than others seem to be. Does it mean that the applicant is a marginal candidate for the program to which they are applying? Or does it not mean anything at all?

My son is applying to the Mechanical Engineering program with a 3.4 GPA (UW) and 4.16 (W) with an SAT of 2010 (720/680/610) and top 25% of class. Good EC’s, Volunteer Activity, Part-Time Employment, and strong academics (13 AP & Honors courses) includng Calc AB and BC, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering Tech courses.

So what’s the issue UMass?

His stats sound similar to my son’s although his unweighted GPA is higher (3.8) but his test scores are lower (1900) vs. your son’s. He’s been accepted premed. I do notice that you folks in engineering seem to be the ones waiting - maybe that’s it?

Son just logged on to Spire…and (drum roll please)

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Massachussetts Amherst
blah blah blah letter 5-7 days blah blah blah

So it appears that he has an acceptance…now to see if its actually to the College of Engineering.

CSNChief-Congratulations!!! I think if you click on “check application status” (or something like that) it will tell you since that’s where it says that my son was accepted as Undeclared.

Congrats USNChief!!! Spire for the win.

Awesome USNChief! Congratulations - that’s great news.

My Spire account finally updated this morning! Accepted, in-state, Computer Science.
Still haven’t received the letter yet though I’m on Cape and the storm probably slowed it down.
Stats for anyone wondering are:
GPA: 3.54 unweighted (Freshman - Junior year), all IB courses
All A’s first quarter Senior year
1910 SAT
Key Club, Technology Club
Pretty good essays if I say so myself
Only top 40% of my class but that’s because my class is extremely competitive.

Good luck to all those who are still waiting!

I clicked on the “check application status” and son was indeed admitted to the Engineering major.

Also a 10K Chancellor’s Scholarship

@USNChief Congrats and good luck .We are still waiting on 2 more schools incl UMass just a question Did your S check Spire anytime before on the same day he was accepted or was it just posted on Spire from 12:01 AM that day thanx and again Good Luck
