RD Decisions

How frustrating for you guys! The waiting is so hard.

My son is in Nicaragua and made me promise to not look at any envelopes, portals, etc. So far I’ve been good but it’s really hard!

Hi confusedmominMA looks like we r on the same boat. Im from in state as well and i got deferred when i applied EA and i was wondering if ur positive that we will know by April 1st? Thank you and good luck!

“You should be finding out very soon. We are still processing applications and decisions so not everything has been sent out yet but the end is in sight so it shouldn’t be too much longer”

Well, I am not positive it will be exactly April 1st. Above is what an Ad Rep wrote to my son March 19th. On the UMass Admissions FB page it mentions 1st week of April.

Good luck to you too!

Ouch!!! mail came today and no word yet .Days are dwindling to a precious few. To all still waiting Good Luck …still hopeful

Talked to admissions today. Woman said they try to send out letters before updating Spire. My son’s in the same limbo. Heard from everywhere else, but UMass is his reach school and his first choice…if they don’t want him, just let us know, and if they do…?

I agree it may be time to move on to “warmer pastures” I n this so called age of high technology you’d think they could have this done. I understand they have a lot of apps so I usually give them the benefit of the doubt so patiently i wait

BTW, I was told being this late is not necessarily a bad sign! They’re not holding onto all the rejections just to flood our mailboxes with bad news en mass…just sayin’. :-P

@beniben never thought of it that way…refreshing…maybe it isn’t a bad sign afterall. thanks

No news again today.

I know someone who was accepted to MIT but still hasn’t heard back from UMass. And I’m pretty sure she was not rejected. Don’t lose hope guys!

Holy cow! That’s crazy, CTCountess.

Yeah we know a student accepted to Cornell and still waiting on UMass. they want UMass great university more reasonable Cornell = great university more expensive both are awesome

Hi everyone. My nephew is still waiting as well. My daughter is going to Lehigh (EDI) but Lehigh still has not sent out all of the regular decision acceptances either. My nephew was accepted to UMASS Dartmouth, Boston, Roger Williams, Bryant, Rensselaer, but still nothing from UMass Amherst.

Same here. Son was admitted to Drexel and RIT but no word from UMass (for Comp Sci). For whatever reason I thought he was much more likely to get into UMass and get rejected from either one of these schools.

BTW, we just went to see the movie “Admission” yesterday. I wonder how authentic the process they portray is.

check out admissions problems blog and twitter feed. It’s hilarious, written by admissions reps. i’m sure by now, they are blurry eyed and incoherent.

blurry eyed and incoherent yes but with the cost of these application fees they are being paid well

Nothing again.

@ConfusedMominMA Same here…still a few more days to go…good luck

UMass financial aid summary - 10K Chancellor’s Scholarship and 0 Financial Aid. Net cost of attendance for out of state student is then around 31K.

I think we will be turning UMass-Amherst down despite being accepted to College of Engineering. Paying the extra 14K cost premium for out of state tuition moves UMass out of consideration. 31K is not a good value considering that our instate would have a net cost of half that. The scholarship is also somewhat perilous considering that it requires the student to maintain a 3.2 GPA each semester. A 3.2 GPA is challenging to maintain as an engineering student. If son were to lose that then UMass would become a 41K a year school.

At 31K for UMass, son would rather attend UMaine (15K) and at 41K for UMass, son would rather attend UConn (40K).

Congratulations to those accepted and attending. Good luck to those still awaiting a decision. Go Minutemen!

My financial aid package was MUCH more generous. They really do take EFC into consideration. OOS, with an EFC of 430, I recieved: 8k chancellors, 5k UMass grants, 1.5k work study, and 5k pell grant. Add in the nice loans I got, I got 25k in my financial aid package. This of course leaves a large amount left, but it is cheaper than UConn or UNH. I’m very happy
